MY FUTURE PROFESSION
Finishing school is the beginning of an independent life for millions of school-leavers. Many roads are open before us: technical schools, colleges and universities. Today there are thousands of different kinds of jobs. No wonder that it is not easy to make the right choice. Besides, at this age we don’t know for sure our preferences and abilities, which makes our choice even more difficult.
When choosing a future career, we should consider different factors. What people want from a job varies greatly from person to person. In my opinion, money is one of the most important factors when you make a choice. However, the majority of people want more than just a good salary. So “job satisfaction” is also a very important factor. For some people, the chances of promotion make a big difference. Finally, to make the right choice we should take into account our abilities and traits of character.
Some teenagers choose to follow in the footsteps of their parents. I don’t think it’s the right decision especially if you are not interested in this profession. In my opinion, it is important to choose a profession that suits your character. If you do not like the job, you will never become a good specialist. As for me, I have always been interested in economics and I enjoy working with people so I’d like to become a manager. I can’t imagine myself doing anything else.
Of course, this job is highly paid and I would like to have a well-paid job in the future because I enjoy travelling and I would like to see the world. Besides, I’m very keen to be successful so promotion prospects are also important for me. My ambition is to work as a managing director of a large company. However, for me choosing a career is not only a matter of future prestige and wealth. First of all, my future profession should be interesting and bring real satisfaction.
To sum up, I want to say that although we are still young, we should think about our future profession now, because it is one of the most important decisions in our life.

Nowadays we have lots of ways to discover the world around us and the main source of information for millions of people is mass media. Mass media include newspapers and magazines, advertising and radio and, of course, television.
Some people think that the only way to be in the know of everything is to read newspapers and magazines. Of course newspapers don’t react to events as quickly as TV, but they usually provide us with extra details and background information. Young people do not usually buy newspapers, but they do buy magazines. Girls enjoy magazines about pop music, clothes, fashion and make-up, whereas boys prefer to read about sports, cars and computers.
Many people prefer the radio. It’s very convenient to listen to the radio in the car, or in the open air, or when you do something about the house. We can tune into all kinds of stations: pop or classical music, news, sport or foreign radio stations.
In my opinion, the most popular way of learning about the world is TV. Television keeps you informed about the rest of the world. I think it is so popular nowadays because there is a TV set in every family and when you need information about the latest world events, you switch the TV on. In addition, lots of people prefer TV to the radio or newspapers because they can see everything with their own eyes.
As for me, I prefer the Internet, which has recently become another important source of information. There I can get information for my schoolwork or find out about my hobbies, sports or current events. All the latest information is available to me in my home, at any hour of the day and night. It’s much faster and easier to surf the net in search of information than to go to the library.
In conclusion, I would like to say that today there are quite a lot of different forms of getting information such as radio, TV or the Internet. However, we can’t say exactly which source of information is the best. It depends on what kind of information you need.

WEATHER AND CLIMATE
The weather plays a very important part in people’s lives. It is one of the most common topics for conversation. Millions of people look for the weather forecast on the Internet. Everybody is curious to know whether umbrella is required today or it is going to be a sunny day.
However, being able to forecast the weather doesn’t only mean informing people whether or not they can go to the beach or have a picnic. When there are going to be severe weather conditions, the ability to prepare for them can be a matter of life and death. For example, the advance warnings can greatly reduce the number of deaths caused by hurricanes.
How do meteorologists try to forecast the weather? The first thing they need is information. Data is constantly collected from weather stations all over the world. Weather balloons tell us what is happening at high altitude. Satellites give us images of cloud cover and wind direction. All this information is processed by computer to produce a forecast. However, even with modern technology weather forecasts are not always accurate.
The weather and the climate affect people’s behavior. For example, people from hot countries spend a lot of time outdoors communicating with each other, so they are usually warm and friendly. On the contrary, the people who live in colder climates tend to spend more time at home, so they are less expressive in their everyday lives. Moreover, bad weather can affect people’s mood and even cause depression. That’s why most people prefer sunny weather.
Russia is a huge country with different climatic zones from polar arctic to subtropical and everything in between. Moscow has a continental climate, with great variability in temperatures between winter and summer months. Summers are hot, sunny and dry whereas winters are cold and frosty. Autumn can be wet and windy, although in September we have a period of warm and sunny weather, which is called “The Indian Summer”.
As for me, I enjoy warm and sunny weather and my favourite season is spring. The weather is very pleasant at this time of the year: it is neither cold nor hot. Besides, there are lots of flowers in spring.
To sum up, I want to say that actually there's no such thing as bad weather. If you're wearing the right clothes, then you can get through any kind of weather.
