269. Уважно прочитай та запам’ятай правила:

1	Перед іменником в множині артикль а або an не ставиться!
2	Щоб поставити іменник в множину, треба до нього додати закінчення -s: a doll ( лялька ) – dolls ( ляльки ) Закінчення –s читається [ z ], якщо іменник закінчується на голосний або дзвінкий приголосний звук: a bag – bags [ bægz ] a tree – trees [ tri:z ] Закінчення –s читається [ s ], якщо іменник закінчується на глухий приголосний: a desk – desks[ desks ] a cat – cats [ kæts ]
3	Якщо іменник в однині закінчується на s, ss, sh, ch, x, то для утворення множини, треба додати закінчення –es, яке читається [ iz ]: a dress – dresses [dresiz], a bus – buses [`bsiz] a box – boxes [`boksiz], a fish – fishes [`fiiz ] a bench – benches [`bentiz]
4	Якщо іменник в однині закінчується на приголосний звук +y, то при утворенні множини y змінюється на і та додається закінчення –es: a lorry – lorries a cherry - cherries
