AT THE LADIES’ WEAR

Assistant: Can I help you?

Sandy: No, thanks, I’m just looking around. My friend is looking for a suit.

Debbie: I’d like to see what suits you’ve got.

Assistant: Sure, Madame. What size do you wear?

Debby: Oh, this one is lovely. What do you think, Sandy?

Sandy: It’s gorgeous. Very trendy.

Barbara: How much is it?

Assistant: It’s £ 79.99.

Debbie: Quite expensive, but I’ll try it on.

Assistant: The changing room is over there.

(on return from the changing room)

Debbie: It’s a bad fit. It’s a size too small. What a pity. Have you got another one a size

larger?

Assistant: I’m afraid not. We’re sold out at the moment. It’s the last one. Drop in a couple of

days. We’ll have new stock.

(Turning to put it back on the rack)

Assistant: Certainly, madame. You are welcome.

(In the changing room)

Debbie: It fits you perfectly and the light green is very good on you.

Sandy: Yes. I like it myself. Do you think I should have it?

Debbie: Why not.

(Sandy comes out of the changing room)

Sandy: Will you pack it for me please, while I pay?

Assistant: Yes, of course. Thank you very much madam.

(Sandy pays, takes her purchase, and the two friends got to the shoe department)

AT THE SHOE DEPARTMENT

Assistant: Can I help you?

Debbie: What have you got in leather shoes?

Assistant: We’ve got everything – walking shoes, high heeled shoes, summer shoes…

Debby: I think I want something quite plain. Like pumps, for example.

Assistant: Pumps. Yes of course, Madame. We have very good classical ones. What size do

you take in shoes?

Debbie: Seven and a half.

Assistant: I can offer you these light grey ones. Would you like to try them on?

(Debbie tries on the shoes)

Debbie: They are tight. Especially the right one. I think they are small width shoes. Do you

have a bigger size?

Assistant: We have this style only in seven and a half. I could offer you these ones of the

latest fashion. We have your size in black and brown.

Debbie: No, thanks, I don’t think I like them. Right… Shall we go, Sandy?

Sandy: Wait a minute. I’ll try on those light grey ones.

(Sandy tries on the shoes)

Sandy: Oh, they are a good fit. Do you think they’ll match my new suit?

Assistant: Absolutely. Do you like them?

Sandy: I love them and I’ll have them. Where shall I pay?

Assistant: At the till near the exit, please. Thank you very much.

(Sandy pays and takes her shoe box)

Sandy: Well, where shall we go now?

Debbie: To the “Accessories” to have a look at their bags. You know what?

Sandy: What?

Debbie: Firstly, I definitely have to lose some weight. Secondly, you have to find a new

job to match your suit and shoes. Thirdly, thank God, people don’t try on bags.
