The Republic of Belarus is a small, beautiful country with the heroic past and difficult present.
Belarus is the Eastern Slavic nation.
The original Belarusian tribes are the Kryivicy. Kryvicy, Dryhvicy, Radzimicy, Lucicy and Sievieranis were related to the Baltic nations, and grouped in independent principalities, of which the most powerful was Polatsk, a port and fortress on the river Dvina.
In the 10th century Prince Rogvalod began his reign on Polatsk lands. The formation of the features of Belarusian people went on within the bounds of Kievskaya Rus.
From the 13th till the 16th centuries the territory of contemporary Belarus was the centre of a medieval polytechnic state – the Grand Principality of Lithuania – which was one of the largest and most powerful states in Eastern Europe. During this period Belarusian culture flourished to its highest level and developed its distinctive quality in almost every field.
In the 16th century in the result of numerous wars, the Great Dukes formed the Union with the Kingdom of Poland. The old principalities were divided into provinces, through the status of the Kingdom of Grand Duchy remained that of dual Monarchy with separate laws and customs, known as the Rec paspalitaya until 1795. Cultural decline set in, the Belarusian language was greatly influenced by Polish.
In the 18th century Belarus became part of Russia and appeared under Russian rule followed by russification. Soon after the October revolution on January 1, 1919 Belarus was declared the Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic and in 1922 it became a member of the USSR.
Belarus has been the arena of many wars, invasions and aggressors. World War 2 brought the country innumerable losses. The fascists killed every fourth person living there. But despite all this, Belarus has restored its cities, rebuilt its economy. The Brest Fortress heroic deed is known to everyone. The defenders beat back numerous attacks of the enemy. They withstood about a month’s siege. They stood to death. Monuments, status, obelisks and memorial centers have been set up all over Belarus.
It was a part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Poland and Russia; nowadays the Republic of Belarus has become a sovereign independent state and regained its independence on the 27th of July, 1990. in the 1994 the president was introduced
Now there are enterprises predicting automobiles, tractors, refrigerators, bicycles, watches and other goods. Our tractors and other articles enjoy a high reputation in our country and abroad.
In the end I would like to say that I believe that the country with such a unique history and rich cultural heritage will have happy future.
