14. Your favourite way of travelling.

I am extremely fond of travelling and feel terribly evious of any friend who is going anywhere. I cant help feeling I should so much like to be in his place. There are several methods of travelling. For me there is nothing like travel by train. Rail travel is one of the best and most eco-friendly ways to get around the world.Trains allow you to travel in safety and comfort, and their old-wordly charm sets them apart from more mundane means of transport. They pollute less, rarely suffer from weather delays and won't give you jet lag. You can talk to your companions, read a book, or have a snooze. If the scenery palls you might go for a stroll, have a meal in the dining car, make friends in the bar or watch a movie...Even better from the backpackers' point of view, trains are very cost-effective compared to other modes of transport, especially if you use an unlimited ticket, such as Interail (Europe) or North America rail passes. It may also be a novelty, especially for families with children, who are usually fascinated by trains. It's often easier to care for small children on a train than on a plane or car trip. Some people go by train solely for the amazing views en route or relish the extra time it takes, giving them an interval alone on either side of a holiday or business trip.Trains aren't the fastest way to travel and timekeeping can't always be relied on, since many long distance and tourist trains operate on lines also used by other services and don't always have first priority. You also usually need to buy your tickets in advance to get a good deal, especially in expensive areas like Western Europe. Conversely, in smaller countries, trains might only run once every few days and may not stop directly where you want to go.

15. Travelling by car.

I am extremely fond of travelling and feel terribly evious of any friend who is going anywhere. I cant help feeling I should so much like to be in his place. There are several methods of travelling. For me there is nothing like travel by car . Travel by car is a more personal experience, for there you can drive yourself. You just sit down at the steering wheel, start the motor, step on the accelerator with your foot and off goes the car. You can go as slowly or as fast as you wish, stop when and where you choose; you park the car on the side of the road, get out and go wherever you like.It is quite true that driving a car has some disadvantages. In town it is rather a nuisance with all those traffic «jams» or «hold - ups», round-abouts, detours and so on. It is not pleasant at all when you ride on a bumpy road or get a flat tyre, or still worse, when you get stuck in the mud.But what can be better than a spin in a car on a week-end with your friend? As soon as you get out of the crowded town and see a long wide road in full view, what a thrill it is to feel the car rush forward at a touch of your foot, to feel the wind in your face, to see houses, trees find people flash past, to feel the real joy of speed. Then, of course, you see much more of the country than you do in a plane.Suppose you are on vacation and have decided to take a trip in a car. What magnificent views you behold on your way — green fields, a road winding its way up the mountain with steep, grey cliffs on one side and a deep precipice on the other, a shining expanse of the sea wrapped in a blue noonday haze, the woods, the rows of acacia that stretch along the streets of the towns you pass through. Indeed your impressions are unforgettable.
