Daily Mirror знает, как развлечь своих читателей. Она может «лягнуть» истеблишмент или ударить по профсоюзам. Но не одна Daily Mirror лежит на прилавках английских киосков(news agents shops). Естественно, что английские газеты скроены и одеты по-разному Times – газета для верхних слоев британского общества и она держит своих читателей в курсе того, что происходит в Британии и на международной арене. В редакции Times собраны сливки журналистики. Они знакомы с виднейшими фигурами британской политической сцены, от которых они получают информацию, подчас недоступную никому другому. Конечно, конкуренция других изданий и давление мощных политических и финансовых сил лишает Times ее былого иммунитета(immunity) и монополии на рынке СМИ. Когда-то прогнозы Times были безупречными, а у самой газеты было прозвище «громовержец». Но она до сих пор является очень важным институтом формирования общественного мнения.
