A MEDIA INTERVIEW

Work in two groups:

Group A: a group of governmental officials

Group B: a group of representatives of the international mass media.

You are going to take part in the interview.

The main question is whether the Nigerian government is effective in its fight against Boko Haram.

Group A: Each governmental official is to read more about the situation at home and analyse the results achieved and offer their own proposals to make the struggle more efficient.

Group B: Each representative of the international mass media is to read more about the situation at home and to formulate the most urgent aspects of the conflict of the government and terrorist organization Boko Haram in terms of the respect to human rights

For example:

Omar Abdullah: Well, article 3.56, I think, it is of the Indian Constitution does allow the centre to impose President’s Rule or direct rule from Delhi if the situation’s so worrisome. But let me, for the sake of the audience members who do not remember the recent issues in Jammu and Kashmir – central rule was not imposed in J&K in 2010, sorry in 2008, because of disturbances. It was imposed because of the Coalition Government of that time fell apart. It was a political disagreement that resulted in the Government rule was imposed. Not the internal security environment.

Omar Abdullah:

According to the article 3.56 of the Indian Constitution President’s Rule may be imposed if the situation is worrisome. The direct rule was introduced not because of the internal security background but due to a political discord in the Coalition Government in 2008.
