I. Переведите следующие предложения, обращая внимание на перевод сложных форм герундия.

  1. I know- of their being shown the new- device.

  2. The worker spoke of having shown the new device to the engineer.

  3. The engineer spoke of having been shown the new device before testing.

  4. The worker insisted on his being provided with a protective suit.

  5. I remembered having mentioned about the works of this scientist.

  1. We knew of the assistent's having been informed about safety measures against radiation.

  2. The scientist spoke of the ultrasonic instruments being used for welding instead of conventional ones.

II. Переведите предложения, обращая внимание на различие в переводе простых и сложных форм герундия.

  1. Energy is not lost by being utilized; it is only transformed.

  1. We know of Geiger counter being capable to detect the presence of uranium ores in the earth.

  2. The necessity of having an inexhaustible source of energy for satellites led to the development of solar cells.

IV. Переведите следующие предложения, обращая внимание на перевод герундия после предлогов.

V. Переведите следующие предложения, определив, является ли слово с суффиксом, -ing причастием или герундием.
