Времена группы Simple, в частности Present Simple, употребляются для обозначения 1) привычных, регулярных, повторяющихся действий; 2) общеизвестных фактов; 3) однократных действий.

Positive Утвердительная форма

Present Continuous

Времена группы Continuous употребляются для обозначения 1) действия, происходящего в момент речи; 2) запланированного действия с обязательным употреблением таких слов как tomorrow, next day(year, month); 3) действий, происходящих в определенный промежуток времени.

Слова-маркеры, которые часто определяют необходимость употребления

времен группы Continuous: now, at present, at the moment, still, and while.

Времена группы Continuous никогда не употребляются со статическими глаголами, к которым относятся те, которые обозначают:

1. чувства: love, hate, envy, like, etc.;

2. мыслительные процессы: think, understand, realize, etc.;

3. физическое восприятие: see, hear, feel, smell, etc.;

4. желания: want, wish, desire, prefer, etc.;

5. be, have, seem, belong, etc.
