Culture and arts in Ukraine

Ukraine has its own original culture and arts. There are many professional theatres and Philharmonic societies in Ukraine. Hundreds of thousands of children are engaged in some or other amateur creative and performing activities.

Literature and arts are developing very successfully. Ukrainian books are translated into many languages. The process of reviving Ukrainian culture is also making itself felt in the theatrical art. Practically every drama company stages plays by Ukrainian authors, while of course paying attention to foreign national classics like Shakespeare, Pushkin, Bernard Show, Ibsen, Servantes.

The performing groups as the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, "Dumka" and "Trembita" Choral Capellas, Hrigoriy Veryovka Folk Choir, Bandurist Capella and others are known not only in our country but all over the world.

Many famous composers such as I. Stravinsky, R. Hliyer, Prokofiev, M. Lysenko were born in Ukraine and made a great contribution to the cultural heritage of our country. Pop singers like Sophia Rotaru, Iryna Bilyk, Oksana Bilozir, Ani Lorak present our pop music far outside.

Ukrainian books are translated into many languages. The names of n writers as Taras Shevchenko, Lesya Ukrainka, Ivan Franko and others are well-known not only in Ukraine. Among modern writers the names of Vasyl Stus, Ivan Drach, Borys Oliynyk and Ostap Vyshnya should be mentioned.
