II. Read the dialogues and reproduce them in pairs:

A)

-What is the weather like ?

- It is nasty weather.

-What do you mean by "nasty weather" ?

-Well, it's raining , and it's rather cold and slippery.

- What shall I do ? I must go out now. May I put on your raincoat ?

- Of course, you may.

B)

- Good morning, Nick !

- Good morning ! Where are you going ?

- To the sea. You may come along with me if you want.

- To the sea? On a day like this ? Just look at the sky! I’m sure it's going to rain.

- Oh, no, it isn't. Don't you know the weather forecast for today ?

- No. Besides, I never believe it. Do you?

- Of course I do. It will clear up, the forecast says, and we are going to have a very

good day.

C)

- Is that you, Kate ?

-Yes, don't you see ? Please help me to take off my coat. I'm wet to the skin.

-Well, couldn't you wait till the rain stopped ? You can easily get ill.

-You see, it came on quite suddenly when I was crossing the square and I had

neither a raincoat, nor an umbrella with me.

D)

- It's been a lovely day, hasn't it ?

-Mmm. And it looks like tomorrow's going to be fine too.

- How do you know that ?

-Well , you know what they say: "Red sky at night, shepherd's delight".

- I've heard that before , but I've never been quite sure what it means exactly.

- It means a red sky in the evening shows that the next day's going to be fine  in

other words, a good day for anybody working outside , like a shepherd .

-Are there any other sayings like that ?

-Well, apparently cows lying down in the fields means there's going to be a

thunderstorm.

- Really ? I didn't know that.
