###### TeamSpeak-Server 2.0.19.40 Readme ######

### Important Info ###

This yet another release candidate 2 (rc2) of the TeamSpeak2 series.
So please note it is _not_ the final version yet.
Anyhow, you need an up-to-date client version in order to get
connected AND be able to use all the features.

So, in Order to be connected you need an rc2 client
(everything 2.0.28.40 and higher). To be able to use some of the
new features the server provides (most notably: speex, a new codec set)
A new client version atleast 2.0.29.47 will be required, which is
released at the same time.

If you are upgrading from an old rc2 server
(version: 2.0.19.16 to 2.0.19.38) then you just copy the files
server.ini, server.log AND (most importantly)
server.dbs into the your new server folder and then startup the server
in order to have the same channels, registered users, permission settings
etc.

If on the other hand you are upgrading from a rc1 server
(version: everything older than 2.0.19.16), then you need to
convert your server database to the new database format
(tools to do this are avaliable here:
http://www.teamspeak.org/forums/showthread.php?threadid=4068 ), or you will have to
live with
- loss of server data
- loss of player data
- loss of channel data
- loss of all settings
- you have to install/unpack rc2 to a fresh new directory.

see http://www.teamspeak.org/forums/showthread.php?threadid=3823
for more info.

### How does this server thing work ? ###

Please note: There is a preliminary server manual avaliable, if in doubt, read it.
http://www.teamspeak.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4369

### Whats new ###

Compared with rc1

- New permissions system
This allows you to configure the permissions for your
users. You might wanna check and configure it.

- Telnet / tcpquery interface
Please check http://www.teamspeak.org/forums/showthread.php?threadid=3824
or read the server manual for infos on it.

- Ban players (IP based)

- Move players
This allows SA (or others see New permissions system) to
drag & drop people on the server to different channels.

- And much more (including lots of bugfixes) :o)

Compared to older rc2 versions

- Speex Codecs ( http://www.speex.org )
To use these a new client version is required (newer than 2.0.28.42)
this will be released shortly after this server.

- Improved tcpquery interface, many new commands

- Bugfixes, bugfixes, bugfixes :D

Please note that this was just what I thought the most important changes, if
you need to know more feel free to have a look at the changelog.txt file that
hopefuly came with this server.

### Frequently Asked Questions ###

Q: I installed the server, how do I become an Admin on it?
A: To get the login data for the Server Administator, do the following:
- Start the TeamSpeak server. And close it again.
- Open the file server.log that is created in the same directory where
the server executable is located.
- look for the lines
26-08-02 17:01:23,WARNING,Info,SERVER, Default Server created
26-08-02 17:01:23,WARNING,Info,SERVER, Default Administrator account created
26-08-02 17:01:23,WARNING,Info,SERVER, LoginName: admin LoginPw: v5l2q

The server has created an login account for me with login name "admin"
and password "v5l2q".
IMPORTANT: For you the password will be different.

You can use this login information to connect to the webadmin interface
( http://localhost:14534 ),
or you can connect using a client version.

Q: Which ports does the TS2 Server use?
A: 8767 UDP, Server
How to change ? In the webadmin interface.

14534 TCP, WebInterface
How to change ? Location at server.ini: HTTPServer Port=14534

51234 TCP, tcpquery port
How to change ? Location at server.ini: TCPQueryPort=51234

To get server to work behind firewall, nat, masq you
need only to open/forward the 8767 UDP port.

Q: I found a bug in this server version / Something is not working how it
should.
A: Fist, you might want to check if this version is still current. On the
forums on www.teamspeak.org there is a special "Developer Releases" section,
where you can often download newer server versions that fix problems. Also, it
might be a very good idea to have a look at mantis
(http://mantis.teamspeak.org), the bug-database teamspeak uses. Check if this
bug is reported already, and if not, you can be the guy to tell us about it
:). Just write a report with mantis.
