Unit 1 Listening and Vocabulary. Ordering a Meal

  1. Match the words related to restaurants with their definitions.

A waiter – is a person who serves customers in a restaurant.

A chef – is a person who cooks food in a restaurant.

A menu – is the list of food items that you can order in a restaurant.

A bill – is the piece of paper with the cost of the meal written on it.

A tip – is an amount of money, usually a percentage of the total bill, that you leave for the waiter who served you.

2. Match the words related to restaurants with their definitions.

A serving – is the amount of food placed on your plate for you to eat.

A starter – is a dish of a small amount of food eaten at the beginning of a meal.

A side dish – is a dish that is served together with the main course and can be a salad, French fries, etc.

A dessert – is a sweet dish that is eaten at the end of the meal.

A four-course meal – is composed of a starter, a main course, dessert and tea or coffee.

3. Match the adjectives with the nouns.
