Rudolf Gimmi, lernt auf einer Reise einen englischen Geschäftsmann kennen, der in Tuttlingen medizinische Instrumente kaufen will. Die Geschäfte entwickeln sich gut, Rudolf Gimmi gründet schon nach wenigen Wochen die Firma Gimmi in der Liptingerstraße in Tuttlingen.

During a trip Rudolf Gimmi makes the acquaintance of an English businessman who wants to buy medical instruments in Tuttlingen. Their dealings develop well and after only a few weeks Rudolf founds the Gimmi company in Liptingerstraße in Tuttlingen.

Reisen nach England, Frankreich, Italien und in die Schweiz sorgen für viele weitere Geschäftskontakte. Das Unternehmen Gimmi floriert: Medizinprodukte aus Tuttlingen sind europaweit gefragt.

Travels to England, France, Italy and Switzerland lead to numerous new business contacts. The Gimmi company begins to flourish, with medical products from Tuttlingen in great demand throughout Europe.

Mit Beginn des Krieges wird es immer schwieriger zu reisen, Rudolf Gimmi kann den Kontakt zu seinen Kunden nicht mehr aufrechterhalten. Das Unternehmen stagniert, die Umsätze brechen ein.

With the onset of the War travelling becomes more difficult, and Rudolf Gimmi is unable to keep in contact with his customers. The company languishes and sales cave in.

Rudolf Gimmi verliert seinen Sohn im Krieg. Trotz des großen Verlustes und mitten durch die Armut der Nachkriegsjahre führt Rudolf Gimmi sein Unternehmen weiter.

50er Jahre:

Rudolf Gimmi loses his son in the War. Despite this great loss, and undaunted by post-war poverty, Rudolf Gimmi keeps the company going.

Conditions improve and

Rudolf Gimmi is able to revive many old business contacts.

Mit dem Wirtschaftswachstum der sechziger Jahre setzt ein neuer Aufschwung ein. Fritz Renz tritt 1967 in die Firma ein und übernimmt 1969 die Geschäftsleitung.

The growth era of the 1960s marks the beginning of a new upswing.

In 1967 Fritz Renz enters the company and takes over the management in 1969.

1972:

Das Unternehmen wächst, alte Räume werden zu klein. Die Firma Gimmi zieht um in die Hermannstraße.

1983:

Die Mannschaft wächst weiter, Produktpalette und Lager brauchen mehr Platz. Neubau und Umzug in die Junkersstraße.

1986:

Thilo Henzler wird Gesellschafter von Gimmi.

1987:

The company grows and the old rooms soon become too small. Move to Hermannstraße

1983:

The team continues to grow, and the product line and warehouse need more space. Move into the newly constructed company buildi in Junkersstraße.

1986:

Thilo Henzler becomes an associate.

1987:

Fritz Renz wird bei einem tragischen Verkehrsunfall getötet. Thilo Henzler übernimmt die GmbH.

Fritz Renz tragically dies in a car accident, and Thilo Henzler takes over the limited liability company.

Fertigstellung des Gimmi-Neubaus in der Carl-Zeiss-Straße und Umzug des Unternehmens in das neue Gebäude.
