My Family

Hello, my name is Julia. My Family is not very large. I have a mother and grandmother. My mother and I live together in Minsk. My grandmother lives in the village. We often drive to it. My mother Galina Ivanovna is 56 years old. She is a low and slender with chestnut hair and blue eyes. She is a teacher by biology and geography. But now she works in a construction firm. She is human resars meneger. She like a reading and a growing flowers. Home we have a lot of different types of flowers. My grandmother Sophia Georgievna is 81 years old. She lives in a village near Minsk. My grandmother was a teacher of Russian languages. She has been working 40 years in school. Her kind face is wrinkled, her hair is grey. She is kind and wise. For the holidays we always going to family. I love my family very much.

My Friends

Hello, my name is Julia. I’m from Minsk. Friendship is very important for me. A good friend should be clever, cheerful, intelligent. I have many friends. My best friend is Katia. Her 21 years. We know more then 4 years. We studied together in one college. Now she studied English teachers. Katia lives with his mother in Minsk. Katia is very nice and sweet girl. She almost never cries. Her short brown hair and brown eyes. On the nature she is a calm and sensible. Katia likes a watch football. She likes to style Виктория Бэкхем. We often get together to the cinema, to the park or just talk. Katia always helps advice and supports me difficult situation. I really value my friendship with Katia.

My House/ dream

Hello, my name is Julia. I’m from Minsk. I live in the center Minsk. My apartment is not big, but cozy and bright. There are 2 sofas, armchair, TV set, 2 tables, compyter – everything you need for a comfortable living. Due to the large window in the room during the day a lot of light. In my apartment also have a kitchen, a bathroom and one balconies. My kitchen is a normal size. There is a set of modern kitchen furniture, a gas-stove with an oven, a food processor, a refrigerator and a cupboard where we keep our dishes. The kitchen serves us as a during-room. Bun when we receive guests we have meals in the living-room. Bathroom is not big, but it has everything you need. It has a variety of shampoos, creams, masks – all that is needed for each girl. There is a washing machine. Also hanging on the wall-mirror. Every morning I do here make-up and it is very convenient. The entrance hall is small. There is a hall-stand and mirror on the wall.

Every girl thinks about her future home. I dream of a large spacious house. Kitchen of my dreams I imagine a big, bright and comfortable, so there was not only to eat, but to talk and have a good time. The kitchen must have enough space, it must be upgraded with all the necessary instruments that will be needed in cooking. That everything was at hand. In the middle stood a large table for all family. This is the kitchen of my dreams.

My Working Day

Hello, my name is Julia. My working days it from Monday till Friday. I am a student at Belorussian State Pedogogical University, department of History. Employment begin at 2 o’clock, therefore my working day begins a bit later than at the other. On week-days I usually get up at 10 o’clock. I make my bed and open the window. Then I go to the bathroom where I clean my teeth and wash myself. After bathroom I go back to my room where I dress myself and brush my hair. Then I go on kitchen to make myself a breakfast. After I usually go to a room and I read. At 12 o’clock I start to gather in university: I collect a bag, I do a make-up, brush my hair and put on. At one o’clock fifteen I leave the house and go by the metro. It takes 20 minutes to get university. Having arrived to university I undress in clothes and go to the schedule to look at audiences. After classes I go home a little to have a rest and supper. In the evening I usually watch TV or read a detective. Sometimes I meet my friends and we go simply to walk and discuss our affairs. At about 12 at night I go to bed. Here so usually passes my working day.

My major is History. I am a second year student. My Hobby is reading. My favorite book is War and Piece Tolstoy. Also I like to read books by contemporary authors Dan Braun, F. Vanderberg. Very often I go to the park or a movie with my friends. I’m smart, kind, nice and good girl. I have many friends with whom we spend much time together. I love animals. I like horses and want to learn to ride professionally. I like to travel. My dream to go to Italy and Spain. I admire the architecture and history of Italy. I am an optimist and I like to have fun.

Shops and shopping/ like shop

Hi, my name is Julia. I not so like to go shopping in difference from other girls. I go shopping only necessarily. I like to do my shopping at big supermarkets, because you can a lot of goods more cheaply. My favorite supermarket is Evroopt or Riga. In this shops there are different departments. Here it is possible to buy various vegetables and fruit, meat, fish, bread, drinks, seasonings and many other things. First I go in at the greengrocery. I buy salt, tomatoes, sugar, cucumbers. After I go at the butchery. Here I buy pork, chicken, fish. In the dairy I buy milk, cheese, sourcream, jogurt. In the bakery I buy are brown bread, biscuits, sometimes cake. To buy clothes or shoes it is possible to go to Stolica ir Impuls. In these shops there are many departments both for men and for women. In our family of purchase mum does. She basically buys meal in supermarkets or the markets.

Food and Restaurant

Hi, my name is Julia. Now there was a lot of cafes and restaurants. One of the most famous restaurant is Macdonalds. It is quite comfortable and not expensive. Food is usually delicious, but very harmful. I usually go to a pizza with friends. There, we love to order something to drink and great pizza. We talk and have a good time. In other cafes I order a salad and dessert. Go to the café a very pleasant experience, but when there is enough money. Now you can order food from a restaurant at home. It is very convenient. Food in restaurants is always delicious. There is an opportunity to try new. Unusual dish that is hard to cook at home. I like going to café or restaurants with good company.

My Meals

Hi, my name is Julia. I am a student. I wake up usually at 10 o’clock mornings. For a breakfast T eat not much. I drink tea with sugar or juice and I eat 2 sandwiches with cheese and sausage. Sometimes I have breakfast out porridge or samalina porridge. I can sometimes cook for myself fried eggs with ham and greens. I study in the afternoon therefore I have dinner usually at home. I prepare for myself macaroni or I warm up a potato with cutlets. When I come to university I buy to mineral water. I can buy hot tea, but it depends on mood. During study I buy to myself pair of rolls. After study, when dinner time already comes, I eat houses that my mother will prepare. In the evening I try eat not much, usually it is a light salad, tea or juice. Also I don’t forget to eta fruit. I doesn’t try to eat correctly, but it not always turns out.

My favorite Holiday

My favorite holiday is Woman’s day. It is celebrated on March 8. For me this day symbolizes the beginning of spring, though not always coincides with weather conditions. This day each girl and woman can feel the spring princess. Girls and women receive gifts, cards and flowers. Men try to please in everything to the ladies. The atmosphere of a fine spring holiday reigns in air and it should please. The symbol of Women’s day is a mimosa. But for me on March 8 associates with a tulip. It is my favorite flower. I think this holiday as the fine beginning of spring.

Belarus

The republic of Belarus is a small, beautiful country. It is situated in Eastern Europe. Belarus borders on Russia, the Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania and Latvia. It has an area of 207,600 square kilometres and a population of more than 10 million. The capital is Minsk. Belarus is a broad plain. One third of the republic’s territory is covered with forests. The largest of them are called pushchas. The most beautiful is the Belovejskaj. The climate in the republic is moderately continental. Belarusian industry produces tractors, big lorries, automatic lines, computers, refrigerators, watches, textiles. Agriculture specializes in milk and meat production. The main crops cultivated here are grain, potatoes, flax, herbs and vegetables. Belarus is a republic if well developed science and culture. The Republic of Belarus is a member of the United Nations and a number of other international organizations.

Minsk

Minsk is the capital of the Republic of Belarus, its political, economic, scientific and cultural centre. It is one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in our republic. Its name was first mentioned in chronicles in 1907. Minsk is situated on the river Svisloch and occupies an area of 200 square kilometres. Its population is about 1,8 million. Modern Minsk is a city of numerous plants and factories, modern buildings, beautiful parks and gardens. It is also a big traffic centre with a large network of railways, roads, airlines and two metro lines. Minsk is a city of science and students. The cultural life of the people in the Belarusian capital is varied and interesting. In Minsk there are 6 theatres, a number of concert halls, a circus, dozens of cinemas, many palaces of culture, libraries and clubs. The most famous theatres are the Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Yanka Kupala State Academic Theatre, the Gorky Russian Drama Theatre. Minsk is Hero-City. The citizens of Minsk are proud of their city. It is beautiful at any time of the year.

The U.K.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is situated on the British Isles. It consist of four parts: England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The territory of the United Kingdom is about 244,000 square kilometres. The population is more than 57 million. About 80 % of the population is urban. The capital of the country is London. Great Britain is separated from the continent by the English Channel. The country is also washed by the North sea, the Irish sea and the Atlantic Ocean. The surface of Great Britain varies greatly. The rivers are not large. The most important of them are the Severn, the Thames, the Trent. The Atlantic Ocean and the warm waters of the Gulf Stream influence the climate of Great Britain. It is mild the whole year round. Great Britain is a highly developed industrial country. One of the chief industries of the country is shipbuilding. Great Britain is a country with old cultural traditions and customs. The most famous educational centres are Oxford and Cambridge universities. The United Kingdom is a monarchy and the Queen is the head of the state.

London

London is the capital of Great Britain, its political, economic and commercial centre. Its population is about 8 million. London is situated on the river Thames. It is divided into several parts: the City, Westminster, the West End and the East End. They are very different from each other. The City is the oldest part of London, its financial and business centre. Westminster is the aristocratic official part of London. In includes Buckingham palace where the Queen lives and the Houses of Parliament. The West End is the richest and most beautiful part of London. The best hotels, restaurants, shops, clubs and parks are situated there. Trafalgar Square is the geographical centre of London. The East End is an industrial district of London. There are many factories and the Port of London there. The regions is densely populated by working class families. They love the district very much.

My Hobby/Hobbys

The Hobby is occupation for rest. There are many types of a hobby, among them each person can choose to himself occupation as a hobby. For example reading, embroidery, a collecting, knitting, sewing, mountaineering, diving belongs to a hobby and still there is a lot of that interesting. I spend a free time with my friends. We often go to the cinema. The free time is very important for students. My Hobby has 2 directions. It is music and books. I begin with music. I listen to different music, all depends on my mood. Basically it is pop music, r’n’b, sometimes it is rok and classical music. I think that music helps people to plunge into the novel world. Music helps me to think distract from problems. The second direction is books. My favorite author is Tolstoy. Me favorite book is war and piece. I consider that the present classics. Also I read books of foreign authors. It is Dan Brown, Дюма, Шарлота Бронте, филипп ванденберг. Besides books and music I sometimes embroider. That’s all that I wanted to tell about my hobby.

Seasons and weather/ favorite season

My favorite season is summer. In the summer study comes to an end, vacation and long-awaited rest begin. The sun pleases us every day with the beams. It isn’t necessary to wear a lot of clothes which holds down movements. It is possible to swim, sunbathe have a rest to enjoy a wonderful world. During this time even rains aren’t capable to break summer mood. There are many berries, mushrooms which are very useful. In my opinion it is the most wonderful time of year. But unfortunately the most rapid.

In Belarus are four seasons in the year: winter, spring, summer and autumn. Each of them lasts three months. Every new year begins in winter. Winter months are December, January and February. Winter is usually a cold season. It often snows, the rivers and lakes are frozen over. The days are short, the sky is often grey, nature is sleeping. Next season is spring. At the end of March the weather gets gradually milder. The sun shines more brightly. The days become longer, snow begins melting. The birds return from the south. The farmers begin the sowing campaign. The weather gets still warmer. The gardens are gay with flowers all summer months. Summer months are June, Jule, August. In summer people spend much time in the open air. Next season is Autumn. Autumn comes is September with the beginning of the school year. Late autumn is less beautiful. It gets colder. Birds fly away to warm countries. In fact every season has its fine days.

The University

We are students of the Belorusian State Pedagogical University named after M.Tank. it is the third largest University in the city. Our university is situated in Soviet street. At present there are 14 faculties: history, mathematics, physics, natural sciences, music and others. Our university occupies 4 buildings. Numerous tutorials rooms, lecture halls, an assembly hall, laboratories, a library, cafes are at our disposal. Teaching is maintained at a very high level. About 500 professors and lectures give lectures and tutorials. More than 8000 internal and external students study at our university. A lot of students get state grants. The academic year is divided into two terms: the winter term and the summer term. Terminal examinations are held in January and June. Our university provides us with a high standard of theoretical and practical knowledge. I’m sure of our future. I know when I graduate from the university and become teachers I will get jobs at schools.

Ecological problems

Ecological problem one of the most serious problem of the up-to-date world. A man the biggest wrecker of ecology. Throwing out a waste from the enterprises pollute water, air. Exhaust gases from cars make 70 percent of pollution. The ecology of Belarus suffered most of all after failure on Chernobyl. As a result of the Chernobyl tragedy the Belarusian people faced the most horrible ecological disaster. About 18 percent of the territory of Belarus was contaminated with radioactive substances. Only a small percent of Belarusian land remains uncontaminated. Today we have a great increase in children cancer and leukaemia. Not only Chernobyl but many of our peaceful factories and towns cause a great damage to the environment. People all over the world are worried about what is happening to the environment. The pollution of air and the world’s ocean, destruction of the ozone layer is the result of man’s careless interaction with nature. The international organization Greenpeace is also doing much to preserve the environment. Belarus is the country of lakes, the rivers and the woods. We need to keep this heritage. If there will be a good ecology that we and our children can quietly live and not worry for the health.

Cinema and theater

Hi, I’m Julia. If to choose between theater and cinema, I will choose cinema. I like to go to theater, but it isn’t so frequent. I like go to the cinema with my friend Katij. The last film on which we went it the Hobbit. Movie very interesting and fascinating. Fine a fantasy created by Peter Jeksen. The movie is a prolog to the well-known trilogy the Lord of the Rings. He tells as a ring fell into hands of the hobbit and about adventures of the hobbit together with gnomes and the wizard. Generally we go on various movies, except horrors and thrillers. We go to the cinema in the days off after a dinner. We buy popcorn and with pleasure we plunge into a movieland. After viewing of the hobbit we with impatience will wait for its continuation.

Travelling/my dream holiday

Modern life is impossible without travelling. Thousands of people travel every day either on business or for pleasure. They can travel by air, by rail, by sea or by road. Travelling by air is the fastest and the most convenient. Travelling by train is slower than by plane. Modern trains have very comfortable seats. There are also sleeping cars and dining cars which make even the longest journey enjoyable. Speed, comfort and safety are the main advantages of train and planes. Travelling by sea is popular mostly for pleasure trips. On board large ships and small river boats people can visit foreign countries.

As for me I prefer travelling by car. Is not so quickly as by train or the plane, but it is possible to take pleasure in fine types. To go to travel by car across Europe it my dream holiday. I dream to visit the most beautiful places of Europe. For example, Berlin, Rome, Athens, Milan, Paris and others. Of course, it is very expensive, but it will cost that. Holidays are very special and happy times of the year. Ummer holidays this perfect time for such travel.
