The RE19 Collaboration
CREAM was approved by NASA for a LDB mission concept study in 1998, and the balloon payload
development started after completing the successful study in 2000. The CREAM experiment
is being conducted by an international collaboration.
CERN Research Board has accepted the CREAM experiment as a Recognized Experiment,
RE19 on March 3rd 2010 (CERN/DG/RB 2010-411) for 3 years, with a provision for an extension.
Currently the RE19 collaboration unites 50 scientists. On 19/07/2013 Research Board confirmed
that RE-19 has its Recognized Experiment status extended up to the end of 2015. Now extended.
Collaborating institutions are:
The Institute for Physical Science and Technology, University of Maryland; Enrico Fermi Institute;
University of Chicago; Pennsylvania State University; Ohio State University; Northern Kentucky
University; and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in USA;
The RE19 Collaboration includes several institutions from CERN member states: LPSC,
Grenoble, Centre d'Etude Spatiale des Rayonnements, CNRS, Toulouse, France; Department
of Physics of the University of Pisa; INFN sezione di Pisa; Department of Physics of the University
of Siena; INFN Gruppo Collegato di Siena; Istituto di Fisica dello Spazio Interplanetario and INFN
Torino in Italy.
There are also other international institutions involved: Instituto de Fisica, Universidad Nacional
Autonoma de Mexico, Mexico, Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, South Korea;
Kyungpook National University, SunKyunKwan University, South Korea; and Joint Institute for
Nuclear Research (JINR), Dubna, Russia.
