History
Cherepovets was founded in November 1777 on the Sheksna River.
During the Second World War, hospitals and evacuation points were opened in the city, in which there were front-line soldiers and people evacuated from Leningrad

Vereshchagin Vasily Vasilyevich was born on October 26, 1842. He was a painter, traveled around the country and the world. Some of his paintings hang in the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg.

Now the population of the city. Many enterprises are located here: Severstal, Severstal-metiz, Apatit, which employ 40% of the townspeople. The city has enterprises for wood and metal processing, food and light industry, and a construction complex.
