TASK I. Read and translate the text. The system of control

In general, management can be determined as the system of economic production control, which includes the totality of principles, methods and forms of control.

Management is often called the art of getting things done through people. The essence of management is to create an environment where individuals, working together, can perform effectively and efficiently. Nowadays managers must be more skilled in handling people.

Managers must understand that human resources are very important part of any business. More and more managers have to take into account the so-called «human factor». Trying to create most attractive conditions of work for employees they have to offer their employees various services. The term «employee services» implies a wide range of benefits. In spite of too much overhead, employee benefit packages may include: medical insurance, dental work, counseling for alcoholism and drug abuse, free parking, child care services.

Any corporation has a special guiding body, the Board. It has the chairman, the president, vice-presidents and other top executives. Not only the President is required to take decisions on every important issue. Decision - making is shared with many people. Most of the decisions are made by middle management. The main thing is to get a result. The day-to-day work is directed by managers appointed by the Board. They set goals, work out strategies, and help to realize them.

New conditions of economic management are:

1) sound and fast decision - making;

2) more top management time for long-range planning and less need to be involved in day-to-day operations;

3) result- orientation.
