angle to approach the concepts of sound and silence, the phenomenon of the instrument, the master instrument-maker and musician, the different types and forms of traditional instruments, the functions and significance of instruments in everyday and ritual life, and finally, the Armenian eternal chain of instrument-music-society. The research of the authors help traverse the borders of time together with the excavated, illuminated, epigraphic and instrument creators and masters, and communicate with the issues of music identity with Komitas.
The book has the following structure: content, preface, acknowledgments, articles, abstracts, catalogue of exhibits, bibliography, and index. To avoid duplications, the selected bibliography includes the sources and literature used in all the articles, and the references in each article contains the authors’ names and the publication year. The index presented at the end of the book will help the reader easily find the information he is interested in. The map, illustrations, and photographs will give a more complete picture of the culture of traditional instruments and about the masters who created them.
