There are many customs and traditions in England. And I would like to tell you some of them. Cristmas day is one of their favorite holidays. It's celebrated on the 25th of December. There are some traditions connected with it. One of them is to give presents to each other. It is not only children and members of family. It's a tradition to give cristmas presents to the people you work with. Another tradition is to send cristmas cards. All these cards are brightly and coloured. Children find cristmas presents in their stockings. The traditional english dinner on cristmas is turkey and pudding. Other great holidays are: Father's day, Mother's day, Halloween and other. Halloween, name applied to the evening of October 31. Mother’s Day comes on the second Sunday in May. It is a day when Americans honour their mothers. It is not a national holiday. Mother’s Day is an American national observance in honour of motherhood. Father’s Day comes on the third Sunday in June. It is not a national holiday on that day. Americans honour their fathers. Many people send their fathers a card or a gift. St Valentine’s Day comes on February 14. It is not a legal or a national holiday. Banks and offices are not closed, but it is a happy little festival for young people. It is widely celebrated among people of all ages by exchange of “valentines”. A “valentine” may mean a special greeting-card or a little present. 

Shopping

When we want to buy something we go to a shop. There are many kinds of shops in every town or city, buy most of them have a food supermarket, a department store, men`s and women`s clothing stores. I like to do my shopping at big department stores and supermarkets. They sell various goods under one roof and this is very convenient.  You can buy everything you like there.  In a food supermarket we can also buy many different things at once: sausages, fish, sugar, macaroni, flour, cereals, tea.  At the bakery you buy brown and white bread, rolls, biscuits. In the perfumery they sell face cream and powder, lipstick, lotions and shampoos. The things for sale are on the counters so, that they can be easily seen. In the women« clothing department you can find dresses, costumes, blouses, skirts, coats, beautiful underwear and many other things. In the men`s clothing department you can choose suits, trousers, overcoats, ties
