3. Додавання слова
Розглядаючи цю трансформацію, ми повинні зробити наступне засте реження. Як відомо, перекладач не має права щось додавати від себе до зміс ту тексту, що перекладається. Всі смислові зміни, в тому числі додавання, повинні робитися за межами тексту перекладу - в зносках, посиланнях, ко ментарях, які знаходяться поза текстом, що перекладається. Нагадаємо при нагідно, що смисл кожного тексту складається з експліцитної (безпосередньо вираженої) та імпліцитної (не вираженої в поверховій структурі) частин. При перекладі певні фрагменти експліцитного смислу оригіналу можуть перехо дити в імпліцитну частину тексту перекладу і, навпаки, певні фрагменти ім-пліцитного смислу можуть знаходити в тексті перекладу вираження на по верхні. Тому коли йдеться про додавання як лексичну трансформацію, ма ють на увазі експліцитне вираження частини імпліцитного смислу оригіналу в тексті перекладу. Як можна бачити, тут не йдеться про зміни смислу оригіналу через вилучення частини загального смислу оригіналу або додавання до загального смислу.
Отже, трансформація додавання полягає у введенні в переклад лек сичних елементів, що відсутні в оригіналі, з метою правильної передачі смис лу речення (оригіналу), що перекладається, та/або дотримання мовленнєвих і мовних норм, що існують в культурі мови перекладу, наприклад:
Also of interest to bionicists are the electrical properties of some bioma-terials. Значний інтерес для фахівців з біоніки становлять електричні влас тивості деяких біоматеріалів (додавання прикметника).
Liquid crystals - liquids that have the optical characteristics of crystals -are common in biological materials. Рідкі кристали -різного роду рідини, що мають оптичні властивості кристалів - досить поширені в біологічних ма теріалах (додавання означення та прислівника).
Stability and control are the major problems in devising such machines. Забезпечення стабільності роботи та надійності управління - ось голов ні проблеми в конструюванні таких машин.
Non-members of the organization are invited to the conference as obser vers. Країни, що не є членами організації, запрошуються для участі в конференції в якості спостерігачів.
В наведених прикладах виділені курсивом слова відсутні в повер хневій структурі оригіналу, але їхній зміст імпліцитно присутній в тексті. Оскільки трансформація додавання зумовлена необхідністю дотримання норм мови перекладу, застосування цієї трансформації потребує належно го знання мови перекладу та її норм.
Через особливості дії принципу мовленнєвих зусиль в англійській мові та у зв'язку з тим, що складні слова (терміни) можуть утворюватися на основі скорочених розмовних, жаргонних або професійних форм, при їх перекладі доводиться вводити певні додаткові лексичні елементи, що від сутні в структурі таких складних слів (термінів), з метою дотримання норм мови перекладу та забезпечення більшої вмотивованості (зрозумілості) пе рекладених слів (термінів): racing engine - двигун гоночного автомобіля, rack limiter - обмежувач ходу рейки, control gain - коефіцієнт підсилення системи керування, wet grip - зчеплення шин з вологою поверхнею дороги, finite-state grammar - граматика з граничною кількістю станів, long duration habitability - тривале перебування людини в космосі, chemical ice - лід з хі мічними добавками, carbon gradient - градієнт вмісту вуглецю, line identifi er - визначник стану лінії, overall horsepower - потужність насосного агре гату в кінських силах, physical data independence - незалежність від (харак теру) фізичного представлення даних, final guidance - наведення на кінце вій ділянці траєкторії, heating group - група опалювальних каналів, under water hammer - пароповітряний молот для підводного забивання свай.
Перекладач повинний бути свідомий такої особливості деяких ан глійських термінів і в разі необхідності застосовувати при перекладі лек сичну трансформацію додавання певних доречних слів (термінів).
Завдання 1 Перекладіть речення, визначивши, де потрібно застосу вати трансформацію додавання лексичних елементів:
1. New materials and methods of construction developed during the 20th century, however, have almost entirely limited building stone to its use as a finish material where its decorative qualities are of value. 2. Archaeoastronomical fin dings may also be of value to astronomers in documenting ancient celestial events. 3. 4. Вилучення слова
Говорячи про цю трансформацію, слід також зробити застереження, яке вірне й для лексичної трансформації додавання. Перекладач від себе, тобто довільно, не може вилучати нічого із змісту тексту, що переклада ється. Вилучати можна лише ті елементи смислу, що певним чином дуб люються в оригіналі за нормами мови оригіналу або передача яких мовою перекладу може порушити норми останньої.
Для цього застосовується трансформація вилучення - виправдане з точки зору адекватності перекладу, в першу чергу норм мови перекладу, усунення в тексті перекладу тих плеонастичних або тавтологічних лексич них елементів, які за нормами мови перекладу є частинами імпліцитного смислу тексту:
John C. Calhoun argued that the federal tariff could be declared null and void and its enforcement prohibited by individual states. Джон Келгоун висту пав за те, щоб федеральний тариф був оголошений нечинним і його дія в штатах була заборонена {вилучення одного з членів тавтологічної пари та означення.
The proposal was rejected and repudiated. Цю пропозицію було відки нуто {вилучення одного з членів тавтологічної пари).
This is an apt remark to make. Це є влучне зауваження {вилучення оз начення.
With mathematics one can create a set of consistent rules and regulations and proceed by logical reasoning to invent and play a game. Слід зазначити, що ця трансформація не є поширеною при перекла ді наукових і технічних текстів. Застосовуючи її, слід стежити за тим, щоб в перекладі не було зменшено обсяг оригінальної інформації.
Завдання Перекладіть речення, визначивши лексичні елементи, які можна вилучити без зміни смислу оригіналу:
1. South Carolina declared the tariff laws null and void and President Jac kson responded with the threat of force. 2. There is another point to make about this approach. 3. This is an interesting fact to observe. 4. Bureaucracy is a system for administering large organizations involving a specific structure of authority and a clearly defined set of rales and regulations. 5. A computer agent is a softwa re program that can be given tasks to do, then carry out those tasks autonomously, without direct supervision or feedback from a human being. 6. We have at our disposal several procedures to apply.
5. Заміна слова однієї частини мови на слово іншої частини мови
У переважній більшості випадків перекладу англійське слово однієї частини мови перекладається на українську мову словом тієї ж частини мови, як, наприклад, у перекладах наступних речень:
This assumption is a hypothesis in a rather special sense. Це припущен ня можна назвати гіпотезою, тільки надаючи цьому терміну особливого сенсу.
In this case the task is relatively simple. У цьому випадку завдання є відносно простим.
Однак така одно-однозначна відповідність у перекладі буває не за вжди: через різного роду лексичні та граматичні особливості мов оригіна лу та перекладу та розбіжності у мовленнєвих нормах перекладачу дово диться застосовувати трансформацію заміни частини мови, коли, напри клад, іменник замінюється у перекладі на прикметник, а прикметник - на дієслово тощо. Така трансформація може застосовуватися до слів майже всіх частин мови, однак найчастіше це спостерігається у випадку таких частин мови, як іменник, дієслово, прикметник та прислівник:
Mechanical engineers also design machine components. Інженери-ме-ханіки також проектують і розробляють деталі машин. (заміна прикметни ка на іменник)
This simplifies the situation by excluding extraneous forces and influen ces that are not relevant to the problem. Це спрощує ситуацію завдяки виклю ченню зовнішніх сил та впливів, що не мають стосунку до вирішення цієї проблеми, (заміна герундія на іменник).
For the next three centuries many scientists, including Bernoulli, Euler, d'Alembert, and Coriolis, refined Newtonian mechanics. Заміна слова однієї частини мови на слово іншої частини мови може супроводжуватися (і нерідко супроводжується) частковою або повною пере будовою структури речення, що перекладається:
Little has been definitively concluded about its relation to other recon structed forms. На даний час поки ще конкретних висновків щодо його від ношення до інших реконструйованих форм.
On the basis of these conclusions, I want to speculate on the connection of the form to other entities. Користуючись цими висновками, я маю на меті проаналізувати зв'язок цієї форми з іншими об'єктами.

6. Перестановка слова
Сутність трансформації перестановки (її ще називають пермутацією) полягає в тому, що при перекладі лексичні елементи міняються місцями (тобто, змінюють позицію на протилежну), наприклад: administrative effi ciency "ефективне керівництво". Як правило, це має місце у випадку пере кладу словосполучень або фраз. В науково-технічному перекладі така тран сформація застосовується досить рідко (до речі, і в інших видах перекладу така трансформація не є поширеною).
