According to the Law Dictionary «a lawyer is a person learned in the law, who is practicing law». In its turn law is a system of rules and guidelines, usually enforced through a set of institutions.

Lawyers interpret the law through actions and words for the protection of an individual, a group of people, an organization, a business or an idea. The legal system affects nearly every aspect of our society, from buying a home to crossing the street. And every sphere of legal work needs special knowledge in some particular area of law. So lawyers must be widely informed in many areas, such as –law, economics, politics, history, psychology, human behavior, etc. And the education of lawyers never ends because they must constantly learn the information which may be of use to the client.

Lawyers can act as advocates, judges, investigators, inspectors, attorneys, notaries, legal advisors, criminalists, etc.

Lawyers may specialize in a number of branches of law, such as Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Civil Law, Economic Law, Common Law, International Law, etc.

In our society the role of lawyers is rapidly growing.

In order to become a lawyer a person should be a graduate of the faculty of law, where he gets the qualification of a lawyer.
