A Study on the Sensor Applications for Position Detection and Guideway Monitoring in High Speed Maglev

Author(s): Jinho Lee, Jeongmin Jo, Yongjae Han, Changyoung Lee, Yan Sun

Abstract

The high speed maglev is mainly characterized by propulsion using linear synchronous motor (LSM) and vehicle levitation from the guide way surface. In LSM propulsion control, the position detection sensor is used to detect running vehicle position for synchronized current generation. To maintain the stable levitating condition during vehicle running, the irregularity of guide way surface should be monitored by sensors measuring the displacement and acceleration between vehicle and guide way. In this study, the application methods of these sensors in the high speed maglev are investigated and through the experiments by using the small-scale test bed, the validity of examined methods is confirmed.

The Research about Prescribed Workspace for Optimal Design of 6R Robot

Author(s): Yi Gan, Weiwei Yu, Weiming He, Junlei Wang, Fujia Sun

Abstract

Based on the D-H notation, kinematics model and inverse kinematics model of 6R industrial robots are established. Using graphical method, the boundary curve equations of the 6R industrial robot workspace are obtained. Based on the prescribed workspace, the D-H parameter optimization method of 6R industrial robots is proposed. Using the genetic algorithm to determine the structural dimensions of a 6R robot, we make sure that its workspace can exactly contain the prescribed workspace. This method can be used to reduce the overall size of the robot, save materials and reduce the power consumption of the robot during its work time.

Investigation of Hot Formability of AZ61 Mg Alloy

Author(s): Maziar Ramezani, Thomas Neitzert

Abstract

High temperature mechanical properties and formability of the AZ61 magnesium alloy are evaluated in this paper. Tensile tests were conducted to obtain the formability parameters at elevated temperatures of up to 400°C. The results showed that at higher temperature, yield strength and ultimate tensile strength of the material decrease significantly, while the material experiences an increase in ductility (maximum elongation before break). A model has been created in finite element software Abacus to further study the deep drawability of the AZ61 Mg alloy. Effects of different process parameters such as punch and die geometry, forming speed and temperature as well as blank-holder force on square cup drawing of the AZ61 alloy were investigated and optimum process parameters are obtained which can be used as a design guide in sheet metal forming industry.
