Windows system key combinations

  • F1: Help

  • CTRL+ESC: Open Start menu

  • ALT+TAB: Switch between open programs

  • ALT+F4: Quit program

  • SHIFT+DELETE: Delete selection immediately, without moving the item to the Recycle Bin

  • Win: Display or hide the Start screen

  • Win+E: Open File Explorer

  • Win+D: Display and hide the desktop

  • Win+F: Open the Search charm and search for files

  • Win+M: Minimize all windows

Windows program key combinations

  • CTRL+C: Copy

  • CTRL+X: Cut

  • CTRL+V: Paste

  • CTRL+Z: Undo the last command

  • CTRL+A: Select all the items in the current window

  • CTRL+P: Print your document

  • CTRL+R: Refresh the window

  • CTRL+N: Open new document

  • CTRL+O: Open exist file(document)

  • CTRL+B: Bold

  • CTRL+U: Underline

  • CTRL+I: Italic

  • SHIFT+DELETE: Delete selection immediately, without moving the item to the Recycle Bin

  • ALT+ENTER: Open the properties for the selected object

Practical exercises:

  1. Create a folder with name Student on the Desktop.

  2. Open graphic editor Paint, create the file and save it in folder Student.

  3. Open WordPad, create the file and save it in folder Student.

  4. Cut folder Student and move it on disk D:\

  5. Create the shortcut to folder Student and move it to the Desktop.

  6. Copy any 2 files from folder My documents

  7. Create a document on Notepad and save it as My life

  8. Rename file My life to

  9. Using shortcuts copy file My biography to the Desktop

  10. Delete any file, and then restore it.

  11. View the properties of any file.

  12. Add to archive the folder Student.

  13. Extract files from archive to My documents.

  14. Using shortcuts move the archiving folder Student to folder My documents

  15. Check your flash disk with antivirus.
