Verify your account via sms or Voice Call→

Note for Google Apps users: In an effort to protect our users and combat abuse of our systems, we sometimes ask admins to verify their identity via SMS or a phone call before they're able to complete some actions in the Control Panel. Why Google asks for your phone number to verify your account

In an effort to protect our users from abuse, we sometimes ask users to prove they’re not a robot before they're able to create or sign in to accounts. Having this additional confirmation via phone is an effective way to keep spammers from abusing our systems.

Cost of text messages or calls

The cost of your text or voice messages will vary depending on your plan and provider, but will likely be your standard text message and call charges. Contact your mobile phone provider for details.

Text message delivery is slow

Text message delivery can be delayed if you live in a densely populated area or if your carrier's infrastructure isn't well maintained. If you've waited more than a few minutes and still haven't received our text message, try the voice call option.

"Maximum number of accounts reached"

If you see the error message, "This phone number has already created the maximum number of accounts," you'll have to use a different number. In an effort to protect our users from abuse, we limit the number of accounts each phone number can create.

Checking if you have an account→

To determine if you have a Google Account, just enter your email address on the password-assistance page.

If there's no Google Account associated with your email address

If there's no Google Account associated with your email address, you'll get a message that says 'No account found with that email address' you entered. To create a new account, visit the Account Creation page.

If you have a Google Account

If you have a Google Account, you can reset your password on the password-assistance page by selecting "I don't know my password" and following the instructions.

You should be able to create an account and sign in at the Google Accounts homepage if you're using one of these browsers:

• Google Chrome for Windows, Mac, or Linux

• Internet Explorer 5.5+ for Windows

• Netscape 7.1+ for Windows, Mac, or Linux

• Mozilla 1.4+ for Windows, Mac, or Linux

• Firefox 0.8+ for Windows, Mac, or Linux

• Safari 1.2.1+ for Mac

Note: each product on Google Accounts has its own browser requirements, which in some cases may be stricter than those listed above.

Control what others see about you across Google services→

You can change what other users of Google products see about you. For instance, when you connect with people on apps like Gmail or Hangouts, you can choose to share certain additional information with them, like your birthday and phone number.

Note: Your name and photo (if you choose to add one) will be shown to other users across Google products, including when you communicate or share content.
