THE UNLUCKY TOURIST

In 1977, Mr Nicholas Scotti flew from San Francisco, America, to Italy to visit his relatives. The plane made one-hour stop at Kennedy Airport. Mr Scotti decided that he had already arrived, got out and spent two days in New York believing he was in Rome. When his nephews didn't come to meet him, Mr Scotti decided they had been delayed in the heavy Roman traffic they had written about in their letters. He didn't pay attention to modern sky scrapers and lots of people who spoke English with a distinct American accent. Mr Scotti spoke vегу little English himself and asked the policeman (in Italian) the way to the bus stop. It happened so that that policeman came from Naples, Italy, so he answered in the same language. After twelve hours travelling by bus the driver handed him over to another policeman. Mr Scotti was greatly surprised to know that this policeman didn't speak his native language — Italian. The policeman understood everything and took Mr Scotti to the airport. The most curious fact was that the unlucky tourist was told he was in New York, but he refused to believe it!
