COULD ANTY-AGEING CHOCOLATE REALY HELP REDUCE WRINKLES?
Hands up if you love chocolate? You’ll be pleased to hear that a group of scientists from a Cambridge University lab have developed the world’s fist Anti-Ageing chocolate bar.
It’s what we’ve all been waiting for – the chance to eat chocolate guilt-free is now here. But just how effective is this chocolate bar at reducing the appearance of wrinkles?
According to its makers, one 7.5 g bar of Anti-Ageing chocolate contains an equal amount of astaxanthin (an antioxidant) as a fillet of salmon. It also contains the same levels of free-radical fighting ingredients as 100 g worth of dark chocolate.
With the ability to change the appearance of the skin of a 50-something year old to resemble that of a person in their twenties, this chocolate bar sounds too good to be true. Te effects were tested over a period of four weeks with volunteers told to eat the chocolate every day.
After the four weeks, the volunteers showed signs of reduced inflammation and increased blood supply to the skin tissue.
The chocolate bar’s creator, Dr. Ivan Petyaev, said: “People using [the chocolate bar] claimed that their skin was better and we can see that the product is working to slow down ageing. “As the bar contains just 38 kcal it’s even safe for diabetics”.
The laboratory has not said anything about the price yet, but it is likely to be quite expensive. The lab hopes young, rich business executives will buy it. Other scientists say more research is needed for people to know whether or not this chocolate actually works.
