3. Work in a group. Look at the chart of the final part of a presentation and describe it with the help of transition words.

4. Read the example of the final part of the presentation “hvdc vsc Technology for Offshore Wind Farm Applications”. Identify linking words that provide coherence.

Now I would like to summarise the main points. The demand for Offshore Wind Farms is increasing in day by day. HVDC VSC technology is promoted by ABB and Siemens. Finally, we have seen the scheme of the ASC Converter Station.

Now turning to my conclusion, I recommend you to study the issue of renewable sources of energy such as wind farms in more detail.

Module 6 Academic writing: writing a scientific paper

1. Structure and Content of a Manuscript. Study the sections of a typical manuscript.

A manuscript is typically composed of a number of sections:

• abstract;

• key words;

• introduction;

• methods;

• results;

• discussion;

• conclusions;

• references.

2. Discuss the guidelines of writing a manuscript given above with your English language instructor.

3. Review the rules of writing an abstract as well as the rules of presenting information. Together with your English language instructor write a scientific paper on the peculiarities of your professional terminology.

4. Present your findings at a scientific students and young researchers conference. Publish your article in one of the journals.
