Describe your favorite city (Опишите свой любимый город)
Chełmno is a city in north of Poland. It is located 45 kilometers from Toruń. There live about 22 thousand people. It is interesting for foreign visitors – numerous people call it ‘Cracov of the north’. The twon is well-known for the old town and friendly inhabitants. What is unusual is the fact, that Chełmno is situated on nine hills – like Rome. From the city you can see Vistula River Valley. Very interesting are gothic biuldings, museums, monuments and churches. Chełmno is one of the three cities in Europe, where all old city is surrounded by original fortifications. Moreover, in Europe are only three cities with completely medieval fortifications. One of the most interesting place in Chełmno is museum of old weapon. There are showed swords, guns and machine-guns. That is really interesting – also for women. In Chełmno are not big hotels. But we have got hostels and rooms in pivate houses – it is often cheaper and more comfortable. I wrote about Chełmno for two reasons. Firstly, it is not big city with skycrapers, offices and a lot of cars. Secondly, it is very beautiful and has interesting history and a lot of relics. Summary, I think sometimes small cities are better than this big like Warsaw and Cracov. In Poland we have got a huge number of small and wonderful cities, but I strongly recommended Chełmno for foreign people.
9. Tell how you usually spend weekends
I usually visit my relatives on the weekends. Also, I do my homework and go to the gym. Last weekend, I did my ESL-40 English homework. Also, I went to church on Sunday. My favorite things to do on weekend are going to the gym in the morning, cut the grass in my house’s front and back yard, go to church, and shop my groceries in Costco store. I like to spend time with my relatives and my friend Alicia Torres. I always cook, clean, and vacuum my house. I like to go shopping at the mall some times. I would like to buy some things, such as clothes, shoes, and blouses. Finally, in my job I would like to work on weekdays.
Tell about the person you admire
Of all people, my mother is the person I admire most. At the age of forties, my mother seems to be still young. She teaches at a primary school. Teaching is hard work but she loves it. I admire my mother for some reasons. First of all, my mother is a caring woman. She has devoted all her life to taking care of me. I still remember when I was six, I had to go to hospital for a surgery. When I first woke up, my mother was still beside me. At that moment, I realized how much I love her. In addition, my mother is the person I can count on. She is always the first to listen to all my problems and give me some useful advice. Thanks to her encouragement, I have overcome all difficulties. In brief, I am very proud of my mother. She is always the person who inspires me most.
Tell how you help your family with housework.
There are certain things in life which you have to do whether you like it or not. One of such things is household chores, doing which is a necessity. It is what someone in the family has to do every day in spite of his or her wish and desire. You can hardly find a person who doesn't like comfort, delicious food, clean and tidy clothes. But these things need somebody's attention and doing them is called housework.
To my mind housework is boring and besides it takes a lot of time with a hardly visible result. In my opinion it is not a bad idea to have a kind of subdivision of labour at home when each person knows his own daily household jobs. If every member of the family does his bit about the house then keeping it isn't difficult or boring and proves the proverb: "Many hands make light work". For example, the children should keep their own rooms tidy, make their beds, lay the table for meals, clear away the dishes and wash up. The mother could then concentrate on the more specialized jobs of cooking, ironing and mending. Shopping at the supermarket could be a kind of family outing. The father should do more difficult physical work. This is an ideal variant for me how to keep house.
