loop dictation – teacher reads the text and repeats it many times, during the 1st reading the st. just listen; during the 2nd reading write down 4-5 words leaving space between the words; during the subsequent reading st. attempt to build the text around the key-words; st. compare their texts with one another and with the original. [it’s challenging, motivating, implies more realistic listening]
interactive dictation – t. dictates questions – student writes only answers to the questions – after the dictation student tries to write down the questions and reconstruct the dictation in pairs and small groups.
dictation with tries – the t reads the text – st. write it down and try to find out some wrong points or errors in the text. The advantages: attention; avoids being too mechanical; has a specific language focus; easy to write; easy to target students problems; OK for big groups.
