• Marie: Where are you from?

• Martin: We come from a village near Munich, Germany.

• Mike: So, you live just outside the city?

• Martin: Our village is 40 minutes from Munich by train.

• Mike: We are from Yorkshire. It’s in the middle of the country.

• Marie: We live in a small village, too. About 1000 people live there.

• Gisela: Our village has only 800 inhabitants, but we love it. It is quiet, and we can see the Alps.

• Martin: Are you here on holiday?

• Mike: No, I’m here on business.

• Gisela: We’re here for five days. And you?

• Mike: We’re here for a week. I have business to take care of, and then we are doing some sightseeing.

• Martin: Perhaps we could have dinner together one night.

• Mike: That would be nice. Enjoy London.

My best friend’s name is Boris. He is fifteen years old and he is my classmate. We have been friends since the first year at school.

Boris is very attractive. He is tall, slim and strong. He has dark hair and brown eyes. We share many common interests: we play in the same football team, we both like adventurous stories, and we have the same attitude to life.

Boris does well at school. He is especially good at History and English. He helps me to do my homework, explains to me when I don’t understand something. He also takes part in different school activities, concerts and parties.

My friend’s opinion is very important for me. I can discuss all my problems with him. He is very gentle, kind and modest. Boris is also a very patient and hardworking person. If something goes wrong, he anyway tries and doesn’t give up.

His interests are broad. He is interested in the history of ancient civilizations and architecture. He plays the guitar and likes to draw.

Sometimes I fall out with Boris but make peace with him right away. When we have free time, we go out together. Usually we invite our friends and go to the cinema.

Boris is very reliable and honest person and at any moment I can rely on him.

I have many friends. I like my friends. When we gather, we play computer games, chat, make lots of noise. I like noise.

To my mind, people should have many friends as possible, because if you have not friends, you just become very dull and boring person. It is fine when you have friends, who are able to understand you and support and help in difficult situations.

We have much in common and we enjoy communicating with each other.

One of my friends is Sergey. He is thirteen. I can say that he is a good guy. He is a schoolboy. He wants to be a businessman like his father. He studies well, but he is not a hardworking person.

When we gather together we like to play computer games, to watch new movies and discuss them. His favourite subject at school is Maths. He is keen on Maths. I guess he might become a great mathematician, but he wants to be like his father.

We are friends for a long time. We trust each other. We have some personal secrets. I can tell him about my troubles and he always helps me, if he can.

I'm happy to have such a good friend as Sergey.

My Friend

To my mind, it’s very good when you have friends, who are able to understand and support you and help you in difficult situations.

All people are different, and you’re lucky if you have a person who shares you views on life, and who is able to understand you. If you have such a friend, a real soulmate, you’re not alone.

I’d like to tell you about my best friend. Her name’s Maria, she’s 16. Maria attends the same school as I do. She’s tall and good looking girl with brown eyes and blonde hair.

We have much in common with Maria and we enjoy communicating with each other. She studies well, and her favourite subject at school is English. Maria likes to study foreign languages. Besides English she studies French and Italian by herself. She buys special books, watches TV programs, listens to radio programs and reads fiction in foreign languages. Maria wants to be an interpreter in the future, so she’s going to enter Linguistic University.

When we gather together, we walk, watch new movies, discuss them and talk about everything. We like to spend time together. In summer we go to the beach, swim in the river and lake, play sport games outdoors, and walk in the park. In winter we go skiing and skating.

We’ve been friends for a long time. We trust each other. I can tell Maria about all my troubles and I know that she will always help me. I can call Maria at night, and she won’t be offended at me. She always tries to understand me and my feelings. Maria knows that she can rely on me too. So we’re real friends indeed.

I’m happy to have such a good friend as Maria.
