The first meeting of the society. Where did it take place? Why was it Neil who conducted it? Quote the traditional opening message. Can you call it the motto of the society? Give your arguments. Describe the procedure of the meeting. Do you think it had much in common with the one held in Mr. Keating’s days? Why didn’t he join the boys?
Analyze the poems read out in the cave. Consider their content and ideas. Did they provoke reflections and stir up emotions? What sort of?

It’s a well-known fact that every lesson must have a clear-cut aim (to get information, to acquire some habits, to master certain skills, etc.) What was the lesson depicted in chapter 7 aimed at? Define the role of the teacher and students at the lesson. Were the students provided with a sort of challenge? If yes, which one: spiritual or intellectual? Find evidence in the text that the boys started undergoing great changes.
Speak about Mr. Keating’s treatment of poetry. Did he succeed in making the students’ imagination (Todd’s in particular) work? What helped him achieve it?
