I. Прочитайте и переведите текст.

The Grandfather

My grandfather has a room all to himself. It is at the end of a long hall away from our rooms. Mother says it is good for him to be alone because it gives him time for himself and also he can have a rest from noisy children when he wants. But I don’t understand why he wants to sit by himself in his chair in the middle of the room.

I like to come into my granddad’s room before I go to bed and to have a chat with him about everything that has happened during the day. There are so many interesting things in his room. It seems that History speaks to you. There is a bookcase full of interesting books and old magazines with odd funny pictures. There you can also see some photo albums telling about the history of our family. I am fond of sitting on the old big sofa and look through them. The big old-fashioned standing lamp makes the room cosy and a bit mysterious. There is a soft carpet in the center of the room. Everything is in perfect order as my grandfather likes the things to be on their places. There is a large window and very often he looks at the blossoming flowers in the yard.

Sometimes our neighbours come to see my granddad. Then he comes out to the sitting-room to meet them and they sit at the round table in the middle of the room, they have tea and talk.
