Pre-listening task: You will hear four people speaking about those who they admire. Before listening, complete the table using the words and phrases from the box.

Main activity:

  1. Track 6/ CD1 Listen and check your answers. How many words did you predict correctly?

  2. Now listen again and say which sentences True which are False.

1. Bill Gates started a company that made computers.

2. Nelson Mandela became president after being in prison.

3. John Glenn went back into space when he was 67.

4. Brad Pitt became interested in films when he moved to California.

Follow-up:

Work in pairs. Think of anyone you admire and want to be like, do not name the person. Explain why you like him/her. Your partner must guess who the person is.

2.3 Skills and experience

Pre-listening task: Why did you choose physics faculty? Do you think you might change your major in the long run?

Main activity:

1) Track 7/CD1 You will hear six people talking about their skills and experience. Circle statement A or B, which is true for each speaker.
