SHIP’S POWER PLANT AUXILIARIES

A centralized freshwater cooling system is fitted on board, utilizing plate-type heat exchangers. The low-temperature section covers the main engine and auxiliary engine’s compressors, intercoolers and lube oil coolers, the control room and accommodation air conditioning, and c. p. propeller oil coolers. Fresh water for these systems is supplied at a constant 35 °C through electric control valve, while another valve also supplies the high- temperature division – the main engine cylinders, fresh water generator, and injector nozzle cooling heat exchangers. The sea water side of the two plates– type heat exchangers controlled manually.

There are fuel and lubricating oil treatment systems. The former uses two units , and fuel from the day thank is delivered via a mixing pipe to transfer pumps which in turn deliver it via a final heater and filter to the main engine . Constant viscosity is ensured by a measuring and control system.

Fresh water is generated by Atlas AFGU31 units with a capacity of 14 ton/day; it works in conjunction with a water softener and sterilizing unit, while dirty water and sewage are handled by a chemical plant.
