The Cartography and the Spatial Representations: Search by Perfect Map
Abstract. The activities of the professionals working on cartographic products have been highlighted especially in recent years. The history, the concepts and categories of cartography cannot be neglected in using this type of tool since the use of elements that make a cartographic product, as an example: map, chart, plan, globe, and a scale model should be used since the unawareness of techniques of cartography and the absence of the components of a map may hinder the understanding of what is intended to represent cartographically. This text is a contribution to the discussion of advances in cartography including errors and absence of maps, including a brief discussion of the characteristics of cartographic language nowadays and the search for perfection in cartography. GIS as Project Manager in Geophysical Applications Software
Abstract. The changing trends in information technology have greatly influenced the role of GIS in spatial data man-agement, analysis, processing and presentation. It has evolved from the conventional cartography and image processing to advanced 3D visualization and dynamic graphics tools. Due to this evolving nature of GIS, it has found wide applications in a number of diverse fields. Geophysical exploration projects involve data ac-quisition at hundreds of spatial locations resulting in large number of datasets. It takes a great deal of time to manage all these datasets during data processing and interpretation. This paper presents the use of GIS as an effective project management tool, providing an interactive data access interface in compute intensive geo-physical processing applications. A reusable GIS software component is presented which can be used by geophysical applications to manage their datasets. A practical example is included to demonstrate the im-plementation of this GIS component as an embedded Project Manager in a seismic refraction software. My topic is Interpretation of agricultural lands of the West Kazakhstan region in the program ENVI.
Aim of work: Interpretation of agricultural land in the program ENVI and their mapping.
Objectives:
- explore the theoretical basis of interpretation of satellite images and agricultural land;
-Concider physiographic condition of the West Kazakhstan region, to identify common characteristics and distribution of agricultural lands;
- learn the techniques of agricultural land mapping and thematic mapping.
Methods: sustainable integrated physical and geographical analysis, interpretation of satellite images, GIS software, map data.
Information sources: used in performing the work of literature related to agricultural lands study area, internet access, topographic and thematic maps (scale 1:1 000 000, 1:25 000), satellite images Landsat 7 ETM + (2012).
