Text b My Biography
Let me introduce myself. My name is Konstantin, my surname is Pavlov, but my close friends normally call me by my first name Kostya. I am 20, my birthday is February 15, my birthplace is Yekaterinburg. There is nothing remarkable about my biography so far. My education began in the kindergarten along with my upbringing at home. At the age of 7 my parents put me to school number 9, it is in the city center. So what about my school years? It is a very important stage in my life. I went to school as a small boy but left school as a young man with certain erudition. I liked school and although I was not at the top of the class I learned with ease. Some teachers even said I was a promising pupil but I didn’t think so, I was thirsting for knowledge, nothing special. Well, my school years flew very fast, so I had to choose a higher school and go on with my studies. In my childhood I wanted to become a spaceman, a driver, a doctor and what not.
I am sure what influenced my choice most is the job of my parents – they are both professional firefighters. My dad had nothing against my choice, mother was not very enthusiastic about my future profession though remembering some life threatening accidents father had been involved in during his professional career. Nevertheless I made up my mind and three years ago entered Ural State Fire Service Institute of the Emergency Ministry of Russia training firefighters and rescuers. Now I am a third-year cadet of Engineering Department, my future profession is “fire safety engineer”. So, what about my studies here? To tell the truth I like to study at this educational institution. Despite high discipline standards I like it here. Our teachers always tell us that our future profession requires a high level of skill and knowledge let alone our physical fitness. I think I need higher education both for my successful and efficient work and my professional promotion. In my opinion the job of a firefighter is exciting and socially important although it is one of the most dangerous occupations in the world. I certainly realize the significance of my choice. The more knowledge and experience I get in here, the more skilful specialist I will be in the field of fire safety.
And now a few words about my family. There are four of us – mother, father, sister and me. My mother, Nina Ivanovna, is a nice-looking woman of 42 but everyone says she looks young for her age. Actually a woman is as old as she looks. She is a fire prevention officer by profession. She has been working in the Fire Service for 20 years now and is not going to retire, she likes her job. My mum is very busy – besides her responsibilities at work she keeps our house. My mother’s hobby is knitting, she is fond of it and sometimes, especially on Saturday evenings, manages to spare some time for it. She cares for all of us and we always help her about the house. My father, Oleg Petrovich, is 45. He is tall, strong and looks his age. He is a good-tempered man. My dad is a professional firefighter; he graduated from Sverdlovsk Firefighting College in 1982. He has been working as a firefighter for 25 years. My father is undoubtedly an indisputable authority with me, he is very experienced in the field of firefighting. I hope I will always follow his advice in my career. My sister Olga is a first-year student of Ural State Technical University, she is going to be a designer. She is a nice-looking girl and looks like our mother. I think she is very gifted, she is a girl of great promise.
In a conclusion I’d like to say that we are a very united family, we trust each other and we rely on each other – it cannot be otherwise in our family.
