№ 1 Research and scientific work of the students at the institute of physical culture

Scientific and research work of the students is intended for skills and habits development of the creative research approach to the professional activity. Research work as a kind of classes develops reviewing habits with literature, brings modern methods of research within the reach of students, and gives instructions to instrumental methods. Scientific and research work at the higher educational establishments includes preparation for essays and graduation papers, participation in conferences, Olympiads and completion of self-supporting research. During 4 years of study students have to complete and master the main stages of carrying out research: 1. Retrospective stage (lst-2nd years of study) - work with literature: reviewing, systematization, compiling of bibliographic cards; 2. Analytical and critical stage (2nd - 3rd years of study) - analysis of literary sources, choice of research subject, collection of reviewing of literary sources on the chosen subject, first-hand acquaintance with research methods of physical culture and sports, fulfillment of the essay on the subject given; 3. Research stage proper (3 rd -4th years of study)- first-hand acquaintance with methods and instrumental methods of research in the chosen sport, compiling of the research plan during the teaching practice, first-hand acquaintance with mathematical statistics, participation in the conferences on the research done; 4. The final stage (the 4th year of study) - processing of the experimental data with statistic methods, acquaintance with demands to drawing up of essays and graduation papers, drawing up of an essay ( graduation paper ) and its defense. To develop creative abilities of the future specialists and intensify individual training one should make use of discussions among students, business games, modeling of educational and systematic situations and other active methods of teaching. Particular attention should be given to the increase of the role of independent scientific and research work of the students, these being the compulsory elements of training specialists. To perfect the training of specialists for physical culture and sports the institute staff worked out and tested individual classes in the process of study-training lessons during the teaching practice. The authors' experience of many years showed that students conducted lessons and research on the subject given with enthusiasm both at their sports bases and labs.

№ 2 Problems of research work of students specializing in skiing

Methods of teaching skiing at the Institutes of Physical Culture intend to provide students with theoretical information at the lectures and master them at practice. Practice proves this methodic to be not effective as graduates are not make use of the knowledge independently. That's how matters stand with analysis of cinograms, changing of characteristics of skiing track. The same is true with questions of planning the volume and intensity of training loads for athletes with different preparation level, problems of holding study-training sessions in various regions of this country. Besides, many sections of the curriculum are stated only in quality but the questions of making up the estimated-financial documentation of holding study-training sessions and competitions are not included in the least. To improve the quality of training specialists one should include the following sections: interaction of forces while the skier moves, laying out of skiing tracks, moving technique at skiing, high-speed power preparation of the skier, organization and holding of study-training sessions, etc. Mathematical form of the educational material will strongly enrich its contents; open logical inner links between the parts of the curriculum studied and deepen intersubject ties. On the other hand, such a statement of the curricula makes the thinking of the future coach more exact, flexible and logical. Constant usage of figures which are met with in practice, modeling of various situations of competitive and training activity make it possible for the future coach to easily make use of different lotions and designations as they are developed by means of solving numerous tasks.
