I am afraid I can’t do that. - Боюсь, що не можу цього зробити.

I am sorry I can’t help you. – На жаль, я не можу допомогти Вам.

I’ll do it with pleasure. – Я зроблю це із задоволенням.

I (fully) agree with you. – Я цілком з Вами згоден.

I can’t agree (with you). – Я не можу (з Вами) погодитися.

I disagree with you. – Я погоджуюсь з Вами.

I don’t think so. – Я так не думаю.

I don’t mean that. – Я не це маю на увазі.

Not quite so. – Не зовсім так.

On the contrary. – Навпаки.

I object to it (to your pro­posal). – Я заперечую проти цього (Вашої пропозиції).

Agreement

The verb (or part of it) is commonly repeated in polite agreement:

This summer’s been a bad one, hasn’t it?

- Yes, it has. — Yes, it has, hasn’t it?

Note that in the question the speaker often invites agreement:

I don’t think it’s worth waiting for her, do you?

- No, I ‘don’t. — No, I don’t think it is. Often words such as certainly and quite are added:

They’re a very good band, aren’t they? — Yes, they certainly are.

What we need is a strong government. — I quite agree.

In my opinion, something should be done about it.

- You’re quite right.

She’s got too much make-up on, hasn’t she? — Yes, she certainly has.

(This last remark can only be made to people you know well, of course)
