Pay attention to the following:
The layout of the parts of the letter.
The date (12th July, 1992 – it’s pronounced like the twelfth of July, nineteen ninety two). Some of the names of months are usually shorted (January – Jan., February – Feb., April – Apr., August – Aug., September – Sept., October – Oct., November – Nov., December – Dec.).
Salutation (starts with a capital letter and is usually followed by comma).
Complimentary close (starts with a capital letter and is usually followed by comma).
The abbreviation forms of the names of the American states (E.g. AK – Alaska, CA – California, NY – New York, NJ – New Jersey, TX – Texas, WA – Washington).
The reference (is typed on the same line as the date on the left side of the letter).
