CHAPTER 1: GENERAL INTRODUCTION
1.1 PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The title of the project is a "CONSTRUCTION OF MOTEL” building of NGOMA district. The project is located at NGOMA; in eastern province the site has 50X50m2
1.2 Project Objectives
The objective of our project is that the district get capacity of occur workers and visitors in NGOMA. It helps also district to get development in vision 2020
1.3 Problem Statement
NGOMA as district located at development area and this increase the workers for example INATEK professors and also the district visitors, they meet with a problem of resting where the rejoice, refresh and bedding due to that fact we are prepared a project of construction of motel located at NGOMA district.
1.4 Project Background
E.T.O KIBUNGO as a technical school which offer to students technical skills in both practical and theory during three years, we are technicians (A2) we are prepared a project of construction of motel for showing teachers, colleagues and society which has been applied in E.T.O KIBUNGO during that period.
This work show Cleary how to construct a motel by the beginning of construction work at the end.
1.5 Earth Work
Definition: earth work should be defined as the works done in order to prepare the construction site, those works including for example: clearing the site investigation and even the removing of loose of soil.
1.6 Earth Location: Our site is located in NGOMA district KIBUNGO sector, near Road KIBUNGO-RUSUMO.
In that regional there is ASPEK secondary school, near of our site there is also I.P.S station and commercial building. The site is situated at 50m from principal road and also there is electrical line.
1.7 Earth characteristics: After the investigation, we found that our natural soil type is sand soil which characterized by the content of sand and soil.
1.8 Bearing capacity of soil: The soil bearing capacity is very variable and depends upon soil cohesive. It can be determined by laboratory method with taken a sample for to make research.
CHAPTER 2: LITERATURE REVIEW
2.1 Excavation:
Definition: Excavation is defined as the operation done in order to modify soil altitude by moving soil mass. That modification is realized by cut and fill.
Cut: is the removing of soil
Fill: is the process of putting the soil to the need place(area)
The excavation is normally done by hand or mechanical plant.
2.2 Excavation Operation
Those are the operation done in excavation :
Removing the top soil
Digging trench for strip foundation of concrete
Excavating the subsoil
Removing The Top Soil
The top soil should be removed because
It contain vegetable which can damage foundation
It not a firm enough to support the building because of our bearing capacity
We take into consideration to remove 300mm of top soil.
Digging Trench For Strip Foundation
You may need to dig even deeper into the subsoil to excavate trench for strip foundation. The depth of foundation must be at the working drawing.
NB: for achieve more speed, we prefer to use bukacter as trench excavate and that is particular good piece machinery to use if trench is quite deep.
Excavating of The Top Soil
When you remove the top soil then you should firm subsoil that is strong enough to support over site concrete by removing the top soil make sure that the subsoil is film.
2.3 Excavation Tools
Those are tools used in excavation
Bulldozer
Mechanical shovel
Backacter
Dump truck
Mechanical auger
Pneumatic drill
Tipper trucker
Hoe and machete
Shovels
2.4 Setting Out
2.4.1 Setting Out Definition
Setting are the operation done by make the outline of the building which should set out on the ground with fixed lines and profiles
2.4.2 Setting Out Sites
Establish the line
Set out the right angle at the correct length and the diagonal
Set up the profile boards to allocate the width of the trench foundation wall
Establish corner pegs and erect profiles
Profiles must be placed in position where they will not impede the work
Make the position of partition wall on the profiles with either nail or sow cuts
Building lines are stretched through these nail and the corner pegs works the ground to indicate the line of excavation for the trench
