Inspection

Checkfuelinjectorfilterforevidenceofdirtandcontamination.Ifpresent,cleanandcheckforpresenceofdirtinthefuellinesandfueltank.

FUELINJECTORINSTALLATION

•ApplythincoatoftheengineoiltonewinjectorcushionseaJsand0-rings.

•Installtheinjectorbypushingitstraighttothethrottlebody.Neverturntheinjectorwhilepushingit.(c:::::r4-68)

FASTIDLEADJUSTMENT

Thefastidlesystemisakindofstartersystem,whichopensthrottlevalvebythefastidlecammechanically.Thefastidlecamisturnedbythefastidlecableandthecampushesthrottlevalveshaftbracket.Thebracketthenopensthrottlevalvealittletoin•creasetheenginespeed,andatthefully-pulledconditiontheenginespeedrisesto3000rpmwhenwarmedup.

•Connectatachometer.

•Startuptheengineandrunitinidleconditionforwarmingup.

•Settheidlespeedto1300rpm.

•Turnthefastidlelever(chokelever)G)fullyandcheckthefastidlesettingrpm.Iftheenginespeedisnotinthespecifiedrange,adjustitto3000rpmasexplainedinthefollowingprocedures:

1)Liftandsupportthefueltankwithitspropstay.(c::T'4-52)

2)Startuptheengineandkeepthefastidleleverinfully-pulledcondition.

3)Adjustthefastidleenginespeedto3000rpmbyturningthefastidleadjustingscrewr~.(Fastidleadjustingscrew(2)islocatedbehindthethrottlecabledrum.)

4)Afteradjustingthefastidlespeed,settheidlespeedto1300rpm.

THROTTLEVALVESYNCHRONIZATION

Checkandadjustthethrottlevalvesynchronizationamongfourcylinders.

CALIBRATINGEACHGAUGE

•Liftandsupportthefueltank.(c:::?4-52)

•Startuptheengineandrunitinidlingconditionforwarmingup.

•Stopthewarmed-upengine.

•DisconnecttheIATsensorcouplerCDandremovetheIATsen•

sorfromtheaircleanerbox.

•ConnecttheremovedIATsensortoitscouplerandplaceitontheframe.

•RemovetheIAPsensormountingscrew(2).

•Removetheaircleanerbox.(c:::?4-62)

•Disconnectthevacuumhose@fromtheNo.3throttlebody.

•Connectaproperrubbercap©tothenippleontheNo.3throttlebody.

Avoiddrawingdirtintothethrottlebodywhilerunningtheenginewithoutaircleanerbox.Dirtdrawnintotheenginewilldamagetheinternalengineparts.

•Turntheairscrew@ofthegaugesothatthevacuumactingonthetubeofthathosewillbringthesteelball@inthetubetothecenterline@.

NOTE:

Thevacuumgaugeispositionedapprox.30°fromthehorizontallevel.

•Aftermakingsurethatthesteelballstayssteadyatthecenterline,disconnectthehosefromtheNo.1throttlebodynipple

Turnairscrewtobringtheothersteelball®tothecenterline.@,_,_

•Repeattheaboveprocessonthethirdandfourthhoses.

Thebalancergaugeisnowreadyforuseinbalancingthethrottlevalves.

THROTTLEVALVESYNCHRONIZATION

Tosynchronizethrottlevalves,removetherubbercapsG)andvacuumhoseCZ)fromeachvacuumnippleandconnectthevacuumbalancergaugehosestothevacuumnipplesrespec•tively.

•Connectatachometerandstartuptheengine.

•Bringtheenginerpmto1300rpmbythethrottlestopscrew.

•Checkthevacuumofthefourcylindersandbalancethefourthrottlevalves.

Thevacuumgaugeispositionedapprox.30°fromthehorizontal

level,andinthispositionthefourballsshouldbewithinoneballdia.Ifthedifferenceislargerthanoneball,turnthebalancead•justingscrewonthethrottlebodyandbringtheballtothesamelevel.

Acorrectlyadjustedthrottlevalvesynchronizationhastheballs

intheNo.1through4atthesamelevel.

IACAUTIONI

Avoiddrawingdirtintothethrottlebodywhilerunningtheenginewithoutaircleanerbox.Dirtdrawnintotheenginewilldamagetheinternalengineparts.

NOTE:

Duringbalancingthethrottlevalves,alwayssettheenginerpmat1300rpm,usingthrottlestopscrew.

"Afterbalancingthefourvalves,settheidlerpmto1300rpmby

thethrottlestopscrewafterinstallingtheaircleanerbox.

THROTILEPOSITIONSENSOR(TPS)SETIINGAfteralladjustmentsarecompleted,checkoradjusttheTPSset•tingcondition.

(Refertopage4-28forTPSsettingprocedure.)

NOTE:

Minoradjustmentcanbemadebythethrottlegripsideadjuster.

MAJORADJUSTMENT

•Loosenthelocknuts<Dofthethrottlereturningcable~.

•Turnthereturningcableadjuster@toobtainpropercableplay.

•Loosenthelocknuts@ofthethrottlepullingcable@.

•Turnthepullingcableadjuster®inoroutuntilthethrottlecableplay®shouldbe2.0-4.0mm(0.08-0.16in)atthethrottlegrip.

•Tightenthelocknuts@securelywhileholdingtheadjusterCID.

•Whileholdingthethrottlegripatthefullyclosedposition,slowlyturnthereturningcableadjuster@toobtainacableslack'§)of

1.0mm(0.04in).

•TightenthelocknutsG)securely.
