Intakeairsystem

SECONDARYTHROTTLECONTROLSYSTEM

Thesecondarythrottlecontrolsystem(STCsystem)consistsofthesecondarythrottlevalve(STvalve),secondarythrottlevalveactuator(STVactuator)andsecondarythrottlepositionsensor(STPsensor).

STvalveisinstalledineachthrottlebody.STVactuatorandSTPsensorareinstalledontherightsideofthethrottlebodyassembly.TheSTvalveisturnedbytheSTVactuator.

Thissystemisdesignedtocontrolthevolumeandthevelocityofintakeairsoastoimproveengineoutputpower.Thesystemproducesmoreseamlessandlinearthrottleresponse.

Thisisperformedbyopeningorclosingthethrottlebodyintakeportaccordingtothegearpositionsandenginerpm.

Whentheengineisrunninginalowspeedrange,theintakeportisalmostclosedforcontrolledintakeairvolume.Thisimprovestheeffecttointakeairflowpulsationsothattheenginecanoutputhigherpowerinthisspeedrange.

Astheenginespeedgrowsfaster,theintakeportaregraduallyopenforguidingthepropervolumeofair

intothethrottlebodiessothattheenginecanproducethemaximumpowerineachspeedrange.

Secondarythrottlevalveactuator(STVA)

OPERATION

Thesecondarythrottlecontrolsystem(STCsystem)operatesonthesignalsuppliedfromtheECM.Theopen/closeoperationofthesecondarythrottlevalve(STvalve)isperiormedbythesecondarythrottlevalveactuator(STVactuator)whichiscontrolledbytheSTCunittochangethecurrentdirectionintothemotoroftheSTVactuator.

TheSTPsensordetectstheSTVactuatormovementbymeasuringvol1ageandtheECMdeterminesthe

STvalveanglebasedontheoperationmap.

WhenturningtheignitionswitchON,everytimetheSTVactuatorautomaticallydrivestheSTvalveandchecksfullycloseandopenpositionvoltageandreturntooriginalpositiontoconfirmeachSTvalvepositionvoltage.

Theself-diagnosisfunctionisincorporatedintheECM.Thefunctionhastwomodes,"Usermode"and"Dealermode".TheusercanonlybenotifiedbytheLCD(DISPLAY)panelandLED(Fllight).TocheckthefunctionoftheindividualFlsystemdevices,thedealermodeisprepared.Inthischeck,thespecialtoolisnecessarytoreadthecodeofthemalfunctionitems.

IfCHECisindicated,theLCDdoesnotindicatethetroublecode.ItisnecessarytocheckthewiringharnessbetweenECMandspeedometercouplers.

Thepossiblecauseofthisindicationisasfollows;

EnginestopswitchisinOFFposition.Side-stand/ignitioninter-locksystemisnotworking.Ignitionfuseisburnt.

NOTE:

Untilstartingtheengine,theFllightturnsON.

TheFllightisalsoturnedONwhenenginetemperatureishigh,oroilpressureislow.

DEALERMODE

Thedefectivefunctionismemorizedinthecomputer.Usethespecialtool'scouplertoconnecttothedealermodecoupler.ThememorizedmalfunctioncodeisdisplayedonLCD(DISPLAY)panel.MalfunctionmeansthattheECMdoesnotreceivesignalfromthedevices.Theseaffecteddevicesareindicatedinthecodeform.

Togetthepropersignalfromthethrottlepositionsensor,thesensorbasicpositionisindicatedintheLCD(DISPLAY)panel.Themalfunctioncodeisindicatedinthreedigits.Infrontofthethreedigits,alineappearsinanyoftheposition,upper.middleorlowerline.Iftheindicationisupperorlowerlinewhenenginerpmis

1300rpm,slightlyturnthethrottlepositionsensorandbringthelinetomiddle.

Inthenormalcondition,thethrottlevalvestopscrewpushesthrottlevalvesslightly,andindicationpointismiddleline.

Settingprocedure:

1.Adjusttheenginerpmto1300rpm.(c:::::l'"2-15)

2.Stoptheengineandconnectthespecialtool(Modeselectswitch)tothedealermodecoupleratthewiringharness.

3.Ifthethrottlepositionsensoradjustmentisnecessary,loosenthescrewsandturnthethrottlepositionsensorandbringthelinetomiddle.

4.Then,tightenthescrewstofixthethrottlepositionsensor.
