Injectiontiming

Thesystememploysasequential,four-cylinderindependentinjectiontype,usingthecrankshaftpositionsensor(signalgenerator)todeterminethepistonposition(injectiontimingandignitiontiming)andthecamshaftpositionsensortoidentifythecylinderduringoperation,andtheseinformationaresenttotheECM.Thismakesitpossibletoinjecttheoptimumvolumeoffuelinthebesttimingfortheengineoperatingconditions.

Whenthecrankshaftbeginstoturnatthetimeofstarting,theECMsendsthesignalstothefourinjectors,

#1,#2,#3and#4tohavetheminjectfuelsimultaneously.Fromthesecondturnonward,thesequentialfour-cylinderindependentinjectionoccursasexplainedabove.

ThethrottlepositionsensorisinstalledontheNo.4throttlebody.Thethrottlepositionsensorisakindofvariableresistorwhichdetectsthethrottleopeningangle.

Thebatteryvoltageinthesensorischangedtothethrottleposi•

tionvoltagewhichisthensenttotheECM.

Thebasicfuelinjectiontime(volume)isdeterminedaccordingtothevoltagesignal(outputvoltage).

Thevoltagesignalincreasesasthethrottleisopenedwider.-

CRANKSHAFTPOSITIONSENSOR(CKPSENSOR)

Thesignalrotorismountedontherightendofthecrankshaft,andthecrankshaftpositionsensor(Pick-upcoil)isinstalledontherightsideofthemiddlecrankcase.

Thesensorgeneratesthepick-upsignaltobesuppliedtothe

ECM.

TheECMcalculatesanddecidesboththefuelinjectiontimingandignitiontiming.

Theinjectionvolumeincreaseswhentheenginerpmishigh.

CAMSHAFTPOSITIONSENSOR(CMPSENSOR)

Thesignalrotorisinstalledontheintakecamshaft,andthecam•shaftpositionsensor(Pick-upcoil)isinstalledonthecylinderheadcover.

Thesensorgeneratesthepick-upsignaltobesuppliedtothe

ECM.

TheECMcalculatesanddecidesthecylinderidentityandse•

quentialinjectiontiming.

Theintakeairtemperaturesensorisinstalledattherightsideoftheaircleanerbox.

Thesensordetectstheintakeairtemperatureinthermistorresis•tancevalue.Withthisresistancevalueconvertedtovoltagesig•nal,thesignalissenttotheECM.Theinjectionvolumeincreases

asintakeairtemperaturedecreases.

Thethermistorresistancevalueincreaseswhentheintakeairtemperatureislow,anddecreaseswhentheintakeairtempera•tureishigh.

TheatmosphericpressuresensorislocatedovertheECM.

Thesensordetectstheatmosphericpressure.Thedetectedpres•

sureisconvertedintovoltagesignalandsenttotheECM.

Theinjectiontime(volume)iscontrolledaccordingtothevoltagesignal(outputvoltage).

Thevoltagesignalincreasesastheatmosphericpressurerises.

TIPOVERSENSOR(TOSENSOR)

Thetipoversensorislocatedinaheadofthebatteryholder.Thesensordetectstheleaningofthemotorcycle.Whenitleansmorethan43°,themechanicalswitchturnsONandasignalissenttotheECM.Atthesametime,thissignalcutsOFFcurrent

supplytothefuelpump,fuelinjectorsandignitioncoils.

SECONDARYTHROTTLEPOSITIONSENSOR(STPSENSOR)ThesecondarythrottlepositionsensorisinstalledontheNo.4throttlebody.

Thesecondarythrottlepositionsensorisakindofvariablere•

sistorwhichdetectsthesecondarythrottleopeningangle.

TheSTPsensordetectstheSTVactuatormovementbythevolt•

agesignalwhichisthensenttotheECM.

TheECMdeterminestheSTvalveanglebasedontheopera•

tionmap.

Thevoltagesignalincreasesasthesecondarythrottleisopened
