Задание I. Спишите текст и переведите его на русский язык.
Turbines.
Steam turbines may be: single-flow, double-flow and single-double flow. Steam turbines may be: single-cylinder and compound. Single-cylinder unit consists of one turbine in one casing. A compound unit consists of two or more turbines.
Main Parts.
Turbines cylinder or shell. The cylinder carries nozzles in impulse turbine. It carries fixed blading in reaction turbines. The cylinder or shell is carried (or supported) by the frame. The bearings which hold the rotor are also supported by the frame.
Rotor. Rotor is a rolling part of a turbine. The rotor transmits the effect of the steam load on the blades to the propeller shaft.
Bearings. Small turbines are equipped with ball-bearings or oil-ring bearings. Propulsion turbines are equipped with plain sleeve bearings. They are lubricated by oil under pressure.
Wheel stresses. A turbine wheel is a flat disc with a hole nounted on a shaft or a spindle.
Blades. The blades must be very strong. Machine cannot work if one blade is broken.
Gas Turbines.
There are two types of gas turbines: 1) constant volume and 2) constant pressure.
A simple gas turbine plant consists of the following parts: governor, gas turbine, generator, fuel pump, combustion chamber, burner, compressor, starting motor.

In preparing for the international Year of Peace, three particular aspects of peace were indentified as particularly important: peace and development, peace and disarmament, and the process of preparation for life in peace. Peace is the condition of development, while disarmament is vital for peace. Preparation implies a commitment to the fostering of greater understanding, cooperation, dialogue and mutual trust among the people of the world. This should also include the formulation of a new approach to the problem of national security.
