Text 1. The terminal area

The terminal area is the portion of the airport: other than the landing area. It includes the terminal building for processing passengers, baggage and cargo; facilities for loading and unloading passengers, baggage and cargo; apron space for parking aircraft vehicle parking areas; the freight terminal (cargo storage building) and maintenance hangars.

The main installation in the terminal area is the passenger terminal. It has a key function, around which all the other func­tions are planned.

The principal functions of the terminal building proper are to process departing passengers and their baggage and to provide baggage pick-up facilities for arriving passengers.
