10. Marketing

Marketing is a rather new science. What has been around previously is the art of salesmanship. Salesmanship is the art of manufacturing something and making another person want. Marketing is the term given to all different activities intended to make and attract a profitable demand for a product.

Philip Kotler defended marketing as “a social and managerial process by which individuals and groups obtain what they need and want through aerating and exchanging product and values and other”

There is another one adjectives of Marketing: Marketing is the process of planning, designing, pricing, promotion and distributing ideas, goods and services in order to satisfy customer’s needs so as to make a profit. Companies point out how the special characteristics or features of their products and services possess particular benefits that satisfy the needs of the people who buy them.

Non-profit organization have other, social, goal, such as persuading people not to smoke, or to give money to people in poor countries, but these organization also use the techniques of marketing.

In some places, even organizations such as government departments are starting to talk about, or at least think about their activities in terms of the marketing concept.

Marketing process:

  1. Wind out about customers by target market

  2. Whet wind out information/ do market research. (There are 2 market research methods. Market research uses interviews to learn about people’s attitudes and questionnaires to rind out about their shopping habits.

  3. To set objectives (Marketing objectives: increase sales to increase market share, or to make your product different from the competition.)

  4. To think about stratagem for meeting objectives

  5. Finally, need to choose right a way of promotion

After all, marketing process to launch.

The four Ps

There are four principle controllable factors that provide the most effective choice for the consumer. They are called Four P's or the marketing mix. These are: Price, Place, Promotion and the main point the product itself.

The four Ps are

  • Product: deciding what to sell

  • Price: deciding what price to charge

  • Place: deciding who it will be distributed and where people will buy it

  • Promotion: deciding who the product will be supported with advertising, special activities, etc.

A fifth P which is sometimes added is packaging: all the materials used to protect and present a product before it is sold.

The four Ps are a useful summary of the marketing mix, the activities that you have to combine successfully in order sell.

To market a product is to make a plane based on this combination and put it into action. A marketer or marketer is someone who works in this area. Marketer can also be used to describe an organization that sells particular goods or services.

Market orientation

Marketers often talk about market orientation: the fact that everything they do is designed to meet the needs of the market. They may describe themselves as market-driven, market-led or market-oriented.
