В данном пособии рассматриваются основные понятия и явления теоретической фонетики английского языка – одного из важнейших теоретических курсов, знание которого является неотъемлемой частью становления лингвиста. В пособие включен учебный материал из основных тем курса теоретической фонетики английского языка: место фонетики в общей системе языка, понятие звукового строя языка и его компонентов, особенности современной нормы произношения английского языка и его национальных и региональных вариантов, теория фонемы, система фонем и принципы классификации английских гласных и согласных фонем, словесное ударение, просодическая организация английского речи, теории слогообразования. Вопросы к каждому теоретическому разделу дают возможность для самостоятельной проработки учебного материала и самоконтроля.
Данное пособие предназначено для студентов 5 курса специальности «Иностранный язык» с дополнительной специальностью «Иностранный язык», изучающих английский язык как основной иностранный язык.
