9.3 Complete the text.
A graduate came from Nigeria to the UK about two years ago after medical school. Because of Nigeria is outside the EEA, he was only able to obtain (1).........................with the (2).......................at first. It was very difficult for him to receive a place on a Foundation Programme. Although he speaks good English, he had to take the (3).......................test to show that he could work safely in the UK. 9.4 What is the disease or illness beingdescribed in each case?
a) Adisorder of the brain, mainly due to brain damage occurring before birth or due to lack of oxygen during birth. The patient may have bad coordination of muscular movements, impaired speech, hearing and vision, and sometimes mental retardation.
b) A virus disease, it can take a long time, even years, for it to show symptoms. It causes a breakdown of the body's immune system, making the patient susceptible to any infection. The inflammation of the membrane lining the intestines and the stomach caused by a viral infection and resulting in diarrhoea and vomiting.
