Обучение навыкам самообслуживания и домашней работы является одной из основных задач воспитания на пути к полноценной интеграции в обществе. На самом деле, чем лучше эти навыки у ребенка сформированы, тем более адаптированным к жизни в обществе он вырастет. Но, к сожалению, не все родители осознают это. И в результате, их дети вырастают беспомощными и не способными жить в обществе. С другой стороны, формирование навыков самообслуживания является основной задачей при формировании познавательной деятельности ребенка и, следовательно, является неотъемлемой частью полноценного психологического развития. В результате формируются причинно - следственные связи предметов и действий, с ними связанных.
Прежде всего, маленькие слепые дети воспринимают все предметы с недоверием и даже страхом. Интерес и желание познакомиться с новыми предметами может быть связано только с «полезными» делами (сначала еда, потом ложка, затем одежда и т.д.)
